Michael Porter Jr: I'm 100% At This Point

Post#1 » by RealGM Wiretap » Sat Jul 9, 2022 2:25 pm

Michael Porter Jr. only played in nine games last season before back pain shut his season down. Porter underwent back surgery and was reportedly ramping up his activity late in the season.

Porter is now pain free and excited to started next season.

"I think I'm 100% at this point. It's a blessing. I feel good," Porter told NBATV. "I'm excited to get back on the court and play basketball."

Porter missed his rookie season, while recovering from back surgery while in college. After a productive second season as a reserve, he had a breakout season in his third year. Porter averaged 19 points per game on 54/45/79 shooting splits. That earned Porter a five-year, max contract extension, which starts with this upcoming season.

As someone who has had back problems and surgery

You are never 100%

These guys always say this. Until the next injury, which is inevitable.

I‘ve had 8 back surgeries and accurately predicted several times on this board when MPJ was drafted that he would have another back surgery within 3 years. Came here to say the same as you. Poor guy, I feel for him. He’s completely screwed for life and he doesn’t even know it yet.

Being screwed for life probably doesn’t really apply here.

Says a guy who clearly doesn’t know what it means to live with a severely compromised disc structure in your lower lumbar region. talking about daily pain for the rest of his life being a very real possibility. Life style changing pain.

He’s not screwed for life. Denver was dumb enough to give him generational wealth already no matter what happens with the rest of his athletic career.

I didn’t talk about you. The man is s as 100x millionaire who, more importantly, just happens to be ready and fit enough to play professional sports. He has the back of an ox so maybe there’s another difference.

I’m very sure he’ll get the chance to really, fully enjoy his incredible fortune with a big fat smile despite the back spasms.

As far as you’re concerned I honestly wish you all the best with your injury, but I can’t help but notice that you clearly don’t understand what it means if doctors tell you you’re ready to play. I was in a situation of much worse pain btw and doctors told me to give it a go. I couldn’t imagine it but two years later it is ok and I enjoy life.

I’d say they can always trade him to the Knicks but even they skipped him in the draft.

Back issues are unpredictable. When Larry Bird was on the Dream Team, he could play like his old self on some days, and other days all he could do was lie on the floor on his back. I’m glad that Porter feels 100%, and I hope that continues for his sake, as I’ve had lower back pain and it’s terrible. But there are no guarantees with that sort of injury.
