My guess is Kyrie still will find a way to LA, but it might take some time.

i dont think it will or we should move on for buddy i guess. i dont like this story dragging into season. We got new coach we dont need a story of who's staying or who's going. We have enough pressure to make the playoff as it is.

Of all the ways this can end, it would be my fav one. Nets caving to KD/Kyrie and realizing that whole trying to take power back thing was a bad idea

They are probably figuring out which casino they will spend hundreds of dollars later on tonight.

It wouldn’t surprise me at this point if they were thinking about it.

Kyrie shouldn't have opted in if he no longer wanted to be Net. I just can't wait to no longer have to read or hear about the Nets and All Star players that don't want to be involved with that franchise

This would be quite a smart thing to do and a huge step towards repairing the relationship between the Nets front office and Kyrie/KD. Watch Kevin Durant back completely away from demaning a trade if the Nets give Kyrie Irving a contract extension. At the very least, the drama would fianlly come to a end and they can just focus on trying to become the best team in the Eastern Conference, instead of worrying if KD or Kyrie will leave or not.

They'd be negligent if they weren't. There's still a better chance Kyrie, even at his dumbest, is still more valuable than the garbage they're currently being offered.

Brooklyn still has the option to John Wall him if things don't work out.

To me, if you can walk all this back by giving Kyrie the extension (which they shoulda done to begin with), they should do it today even with the egg that will be all over their face. The Nets have a contending squad, Harris will be back, Simmons will be back and O'neil is a great pickup. Its always a question of availability, but if they are healthy in the playoffs, they are the team to beat in the East.

From what i gather tho, this is a Tsai vs KD/Kyrie power tussle, and it feels like he's going down the road of accepting being worse without diva's, which you can do 3-4 years from now when you'll have all your picks and KD/Kyrie expire. Not paying Kyrie knowing that KD/Kyrie was a package deal was just dumb, imo

Sincere Question: Do you really feel comfortable giving Kyrie a 5 year max?

I think 2017 was the last year, beginning to end, he was normal. For me, I wouldn't feel at all comfortable giving him a 5 yr max, which I think is what Kyrie wants.

I just feel you give 5 yrs, he won't show up for 4 of em. He makes Shaq's professionalism looks like Kobe

Not at all. KD has 4 years and thats what i would give him, and not the performance based incentive for the last 2 years. Just pay him to line it up with KD and hope to get a couple good years out of it. Kyrie was always the price you paid for KD

I know we've went back and forth on this, but i just dont see a way it ends well when the relationship with KD is lost and he wants out, 4 year contract or not. Your best player not wanting to be there is just not gonna work out. You made a bargain with KD/Kyrie and sold your soul for them...you cant really decide that what was a package deal is actually now a la carte. KD/Kyrie will, rightfully, feel like youre not honoring the spirit of the agreement (and i honestly dont think they are wrong here).

It's fair to no longer want to deal with Kyrie and his nonsense, but they should have understood that this was a very possible outcome.

And it's worse, imo, for the Nets management cause Kyrie didnt lie to anybody. He was a wildcard that burned his way out of 2 teams. They knew what they were getting into

There is a chance TJ Warren is a great pickup too. They could start Kyrie, Harris, O'Neal, KD and Simmons (going small) and have Mills, Curry, TJ, Claxton, Day'ron Sharpe, Cam Thomas

They only need to give him 3 more years too to line up with KD.

Ya meant 4 years total. But ya, just line it up and hope you get a couple good years in there, maybe sneak a title before it all blows up.
