Best Summer League performance ever

Post#1 » by SUPERVILLAIN » Sun Jul 10, 2022 10:23 am

I was impressed by Paolo Banchero's performance today. The kid can score. A very good passer also. Last but not least, he is committed to defense. I honestly didn't expect that from him.

Anyway, my actual question is who had the best Summer League performance of all-time? I know damn sure there have been some incredible performances in the previous times.

PS: it would be great if you could add the link to the highlights!

Anthony Morrow 47 points in one game which automatically got him a contract goes down as one of the reward performances in history back in 2009.

Bo Outlaw is the king of summer league:

The only thing more baffling for the hamburger-maker with career-high averages of 9 points, 8 rebounds and 3 assists in the NBA was his dominating performances during the Southern California Summer League, where he is known as “The King of the Summer League” and a SPL Champion as a member of the NBA Pros team. He had a hamburger with 13/16/10 in one game, 42 points, 15 rebounds, 7 assists and 7 blocks in another and a 45-point, 9 rebound and 6 block shot game in another.

Mitchell when he had 37pts and 8 steals, and then continued that into an amazing rookie season

Anthony Randolph scoring 42 pts against the Bulls in 2009.

Back then it was a record. The SL was 6 years old then.

GS team had Curry and Joe Ingles.

A glimpse of what Greg Oden could have been if healthy. Brutal, Shaq-like dunks.

I can't remember any specific lines, but Adam Morrison was a summer league legend.

Marcus Banks also had the 42 point game.

There are a lot of other fringe players I remember having great games... Von Wafer, Josh Selby, Cole Aldrich, Othyus Jeffers, Malcolm Thomas, John Lucas III, Jordan McRae, Reggie Williams, Kelenna Azubuike, Alan Williams... I'm sure plenty of others I'm forgetting.

I was just looking at a Hoopshype article that lists the highest summer league scoring averages of all time. Surprising in a lot of cases...

1) Cam Thomas (Brooklyn) - 27.8 ppg in five games (2021, 2022)
2) Damian Lillard (Portland) - 26.5 ppg in four games (2012)
3) Lou Williams (Philadelphia) - 25.2 ppg in five games (2007)
4) Nickeil Alexander-Walker (New Orleans) - 24.3 ppg in four games (2019)
5) Jerryd Bayless (Portland) - 23.9 ppg in eight games (2008, 2009)
6) Anthony Randolph (Golden State) - 23.8 ppg in eight games (2008, 2009)
7) John Wall (Washington) - 23.5 ppg in four games (2010
8) Tre Jones (San Antonio) - 22.8 ppg in four games (2021)
9) Jaylen Nowell (Minnesota) - 22.5 ppg in four games (2021)
10) Kyle Kuzma (LA Lakers) - 21.9 ppg in seven games (2017)

Next 10:
Bol Bol (Denver), Randy Foye (Minnesota), Jordan McRae (Philadelphia and Cleveland), Obi Toppin (New York), Patrick Williams (Chicago), Kevin Martin (Sacramento), Tobias Harris (Milwaukee), Jimmy Butler (Chicago), Amare Stoudemire (Phoenix), CJ McCollum (Portland)
