Duncan's one of the defensive greats, but it's clear to me Patrick Ewing was better. I'm taking Pat every time if we're talking prime versus prime, peak versus peak.

I consider Duncan the best defender ever, so no.
All human life on the earth is like grass, and all human glory is like a flower in a field. The grass dries up and its flower falls off, but the Lord’s word endures forever.

For peak and 3-5 year prime he has an argument, Duncan has significantly better longevity.

Not a big gap, but clearly Duncan.

Based on what exactly? I will say that Ewing’s post prime defensive metrics look really good, but what’s the argument that his defense was “clearly” better than prime Duncan’s or peak Duncan’s?

So, I want to echo your focus on the word "clear" here. People say this word to effectively mean "I've seen enough I'm confident in my opinion", but the word implies that you're seeing things clearly...so what is it exactly you are seeing?
If you can explain it, you should do so first and foremost because it will be insightful to the rest of us.
If you cannot, maybe say something else less bold.
