Banchero does look great, but...just think about the Doncic\Trae debate
If Chet turns out to be really special, it's great for the Magic that they drafted an Allstar but that would still have been the wrong choice :)

What they can really feel good about is that Jabari isn't looking too hot so far, might have really dodged a bullet there considering he was ranked above Banchero in just about every mock there is up to the day b4

The mock drafts really got exposed this year, as they all reported that everyone wanted Smith all year. Orlando and OKC proved that wrong, and Houston tried to jump up and get Banchero and settled for Smith instead.

Not doubting he can play well, but he is highly likely to be type of player injured often.

That montage seems a tad bit misleading.
You'd think Jabari shot the ball decently while Chet was a defensive monster.

Truth is both guys shot poorly but both were dominant on the defensive end with Holmgren completely locking the paint for stretches and Smith doing most of his outstanding defensive work on Chet man-to-man.

Chet shot 3-10fg and 0-1 3pt but had 8 rebounds, 2 steals , and 4 blocks
Jabari went 5-19fg and 2-9 3pt adding 9 rebounds, 4 steals and 3 blocks

The round mound of rebound.

the modern day Zach Randolph

He honestly doesn't play too much like the zeebo I remember IMO. I do respect Zbo's game though. I do think he plays a bit like barkley, but more overpowering in terms of using bulk maybe.

The way Ivey has been playing the three above might be regretting their decisions there too.

'Exposed' is not the word you're looking for. A mock draft is supposed to guess how the draft is going to go, and the press/media was repeatedly told that Smith was the pick. That's what everyone thought because that's what the team picking #1 wanted everyone to think.

And OKC was always linked to Holmgren, which was proved right.

Also, teams always get criticized for bad picks. People still talk about pistons taking darko, kings taking bagley, grizzlies picking thabeet, blazers taking bowie ect... if Chet ends up being better the Magic will never hear the end of it, so may as well get used to it.

The really bizarre thing to me is that there's a legitimate case to be made that at least 4 guys taken after Banchero have more upside than him.
That's possible for any player in the draft.

A few teams might regret not taking Mathurin.

Well I think a lot of people underestimated the Magic. I plan on bumping this thread until I see a thread showing some love to the Magic on the first page instead. That would be more fitting for a young talented team that is killing it right now.

If that’s all it takes to bury this stupidity forever, I’ll get right on it.
