Some 3s chucking and one and done type of shots from our guys. Seems like some players are fighting for that second two-way contract.

Good team coverage on D so far so at least there's some cohesion there.

So far if it's just between Hall and Days for the other two-way, I'd pick Days. Big body, good movement on D, can make 3s.

We don't box out well on O and we need to pass down low to our bigs better, too. That said, out D to O transition is pretty decent for SL and we're getting points with extra passes and 3s.

You can see why we signed Barlow to the two-way. He needs to get stronger, but has sound fundamentals on D in terms of positioning, angles, wide stance. He got bodied by Wiseman some but that's more sheer strength than improper D. Held his ground because of his fundamentals. Arms up on the shots, rotates well for help D, timely blocks.

Darius Days. Love him. Should he get into better shape he's going to be a force. Wiseman bounced off of him and fell on a drive attempt. Days has terrific touch and range, and is a physical force who can move well for his size. I can only imagine him and Keldon bullying opponents.

Primo's distribution is a bti awkward in style but he's getting the ball to teammates. Part of it is how we're moving to get into the sets. Some high P&R attempts and slightly late movements by others but we're trying to execute.

Blake was pushing it a bit and got some tunnel vision. He draws defenders to him so will need to kick out more.

A quiet contribution by Malaki.

It's all in good light. Giving the young man his props for leading us at the half. He did play well. He's stood out well from the new guys who don't know our system well.

But it was also the guys who are more familiar with our system - Stewart and Woodard - who helped us pull away. Goes to show what some corporate knowledge can do even with lesser known players. Stabilizing force.

It's interesting how team patterns continue despite the roster being nearly completely different. Another 3RD Q meltdown and 16-point lead down to 7 with momentum going to the opponent going into the final Q.

Too much one and done shooting, barely any ball movement. We went away from what was working better. Sound familiar? lol

Hall showing some good D instincts in getting into lanes for steals.

Missed dunk in transition because Malaki didn't pass ahead leads to a 3 on us for the tie game. Five-point swing. SMH... It's not the score so much as the lacking fundamentals.

 I see you're in full embrace mode! I do want the young guys to learn something. Like if we're going to lose, at least get better with the fundamentals. Fast break, etc. lol

I actually think that Wesley, Branham, and Primo will look even better next to Devin and Keldon.

Sochan is apparently getting rave reviews behind the scenes.

And word is apparently we're not that eager to trade Jakob.

It'll be an interesting season.

lmao what a **** stupid way to lose. Dribbling into traffic tunnel vision with team mates who ran down the court and spread the floor open around him.

I hope the guys remember this feeling when they feel like going man-a-mano for too many stretches to give up big leads and lose the game late.

I thought Coach Mitch ought to have curbed these one and done tendencies better, and it would have been good to have a timeout to use late in the game, so there's some game management learning to be done as well.

Sucks to miss but we gave up the momentum in the 3RD Q and were basically trading water the rest of the way.

WE didn't get our bigs involved hardly at all. Barlow had 2 FGAs. We used high screens but I don't recall many passes on their rolls. Lots of perimeter action with Primo and Blake taking most of the shots. Blake drove more early and it felt like we were more perimeter oriented as the game progressed.

Our O rebounding was poor - no boxing out, not enough bodies. Too often it was Barlow vs. three opponents.

This is where Days stood out well. He is huge and bouncy for his frame and was second to C Carlton (7 O boards) with 5 O rebounds.

Nobody but Days shot it particularly well with Primo (2-15) and Blake (7-20) struggling.

Branham hasn't asserted himself all that much (1-6). I though Wesley was the less polished of the two, and maybe he is, but he's certainly the more assertive. Blake has to get others involved more; Branham has to make himself stand out more.

Player of the game is Darius Days with 17 (5-11, 2-6 from 3, 5-5FTs), 13 rebounds (5 on O), 1 assist, 2 steals, 1 block.

We missed 12 FTs in a one-point game. FFS.

We also had 16TOs.

So more of the former, less of the latter.

Our 3s were falling decently 10-29 but we sucked the air out of the ball in overall FGAs, making only 25-75 oof.

We were ok in transition, decent D, but we need a leader to emerge, and we need to play more of a team-oriented game. Too many breakdowns into one and done or perimeter passing. More P&Rs, passing to rollers, extra passes.
