Ayton has an offer sheet he could sign as soon as today. It'll be interesting to see if he does it and also who that team is, and what their offer is for him.

Seems like he and his agent are tired of waiting on the logistics of a KD trade and they want to get his deal signed.

Gonna be Spurs.

Once he signs it does it lock the teams out of a S&T?

Who else has money and legit would want him? Detroit doesn't have the cap space anymore. Ayton ain't signing a 15M offer sheet. I could see him signing QO.

Good for him I don't think he's on Detroit's radar anymore.

Personally I think this is a play. As you can’t use players in a sign and trade with a team that madd the offer sheet, either spurs or pacers (my bet is Pacers) are trying to trade Turner or Poeltl respectively in a s&t for Ayton straight up. They know suns don’t want to pay the max and they can’t be left holding their d*** in their hands if Ayton leaves with no way to reasonably replace him. They would be saying to the suns to take the offer or pay him the max, which forces their hand. I reckon we will see the s&t.

Has to be Pacers or Spurs, right?

Who else even still has that kind of cap space?

Do either the Spurs or the Pacers make sense as landing spots for Ayton though?

I dunno. Ayton is in a tough spot.

Spurs, no. If they planned on getting someone like Ayton, they never would have traded Murray.

Pacers, yes. Wouldn’t cost them to much seeing as Turner would have to be involved.

Thing is it says "offer sheet signed" meaning the team has the cap space and not a S&T involved.

Not a bad squad. With Hali & Ayton, they may have to be my pet team this year if it goes down.

The implication here is that it would be a non-max contract offer with the Spurs or Pacers right?

If either of those teams had offered the max it would have been signed already.

We could have signed him for not much more than we are paying. Bagley Noel and Burks

1) It's less than the MLE
2) He can be traded later
3) It's only __% of the cap
4) The cap is going up
5) It's only __ years
6) He's a good mentor/locker room guy

Once we got Duren, it doesn't make sense to bury him behind Ayton. The kid have a lot of potential. But yes, I rather allocate money into a superior player/prospect/potential than spread it between a bunch of mediocre players. Ayton is not the guy for us anymore tho.

His QO is about $16.5 million. How much do you think he’s signing for?

Those three combined will make 32M. You think it's higher than that?

Looks like it's the Pacers. Like what they are doing with Hali and this.

I wouldn't be surprised to see the Pacers offer up something like 3 years $96 million with some incentives in there as well.

22-23: $26 million guaranteed + $4 million incentives
23-24: $28 million guaranteed + $4 million incentives
24-25: $30 million guaranteed + $4 million incentives

That reduces his overall amount of guaranteed money down to 3 years $84 million but allow him to essentially make the max over 3 seasons if he hits those performance based incentives.

Also, will the Pacers play Turner at PF next to Ayton? His perimeter shooting seemingly makes that possible.

C: Ayton / Turner
PF: Turner / Smith
SF: Duarte
SG: Hield
PG: Haliburton

Seemingly a solid, younger core than they had a year ago.
