Aller likes to get the rights to those Euro scrubs in deals because they are ways to put cost free players into trades, to balance them out, without a cap hit. I'm sure he's not the only one, just that it's a detail he always likes to cover, so Knicks always have some low talent eastern european guard on hand or some aged hairy back 48 year old euro center.

Unless it's in a bigger trade, I figure he's back.

Yes, it pushes IQ or Grimes or Cam to the bench in a domino, to say nothing of Fournier, but if the Knicks don't make an offseason trade for Mitchell before the season starts, I think they ride the glut to the deadline.

When people realize how bad Cuban has effed up building around Luka in like 1-2 years maybe just maybe the media and NBA Twitter will keep the same energy for him and that organization that they have for us over every single minor transaction we make :lol:

Who cares if that's another smoke and mirrors draft pick, at least Leon can tell all the naive-to-stupid Knick masses "look how many draft picks we have". Who cares if most of them don't have any noticeable value due to protections. How many "picks" do they have now? 9 in the next 3 years? At some point it'll be 20 in the next 5.

- 2023 first round pick via Detroit (protected 1-18 until 2024, protected 1-13 in 2025, protected 1-11 in 2026, protected 1-9 in 2027)
- 2023 first round pick via Washington (protected 1-14 in 2023, protected 1-12 in 2024, protected 1-10 in 2025, protected 1-8 in 2026)
- 2025 first-round pick via Milwaukee (protected 1-4)
- 2025 second-round pick via Detroit? (protected 1-55)
- Draft rights to Nikola Radicevic
- $18 million in cap space

The key here is that the Detroit and Washington picks end up being nothing if those conditions are not met by 2027 and 2026 respectively. I don't think it becomes unprotected in 2028 and 2027 respectively if not conveyed. It just disappears.
