The biggest issue with this is where to reroute Ben Simmons unless it would be to us. (yuck)
If it were just Bam, filler, picks for KD swap it may have already been a done deal
I'm no fan of Simmons but he's a fantastic defender and a great passer.
Say you move Bam, Herro and Lowry for KD and Simmons.
You move Oladipo to PG, Butler SG, Simmons to SF, KD PF, find a defensive big to play center.
Let's just forget the offense for a second, what is the potential of that defense? Possibly one of the all time great defenses depending on the center they could find? Then on offense having KD your #1, Butler your #2 and Oladipo #3. I get Simmons can't/won't shoot but the amount of deflections and steals that defense could create would really allow Miami to utilize Simmons in the open court on breaks. On offense I'd try to utilize Simmons in Bam sets especially if you can park your center in the corner.
I do get it, Simmons just screwed over Philly and Brooklyn, back concerns and we all understand basketball is just a job for him. It's a roll of the dice but having KD, Butler, Spoelstra and Miami's FO pushing Simons, maybe Miami can do for Simmons what Golden State did for Wiggins?

Probably be wrapped up by trade deadline.

Consistent contenders? Have the Lakers been consistent contenders with AD and Lebron? You're banking on two guys in their mid 30s, one who has already had one long-term injury and the other who has nagging lower leg issues to stay at the top of their game. Problem is lots of people only look at the most positive outcomes when in reality it is much more likely that something messes up the timeline. The Clippers have won nothing and they acquired Kawhi and PG when they were years younger than Jimmy and KD. The Lakers are one pandemic and Bam and Goran injuries away from coming up empty too.

which star did Bam eliminate in these last playoffs? looked like everyone played to their standard, except Atlanta's PG who got destroyed by our Guards/Wings on the switches. what star Center on the other team played below their standards?

I don’t even know if I’d characterize basketball as a “Job” for Simmons. Seems more like an elaborate form of fraud under guise as a job for him.
(Recognized Simmons hater checking in)

Do you watch our defense? Or just look down the list of position by position matchup stats post game?
Cmon guys we’re supposed to be the group of fans that actually accurately recognizes what our team does to succeed.

Would you trade Bam for Robert Williams taking their contracts into account?
I doubt the Celtics would.

Re: Offseason Thread VOL 4- MILLSAP MANIA
When defended by Bam these playoffs:
Horford: 33%
Embiid: 38%
Maxey: 30%
Brown: 21%
Smart: 30%
Collins: 12%
Capela: 33%
Trae: 25%
That’s basically the top players on each team we played in the playoffs outside of Tatum and Harden
You guys act like I just pull the stuff I’m saying out if my ass.
Hell, Giannis shot 18% against Bam last playoffs. The East runs through Giannis, the only thing that can stop them is injury or Bam.

Do we know that? They flat out told you that?
We know Miami wouldn’t, he’ll they won’t even trade him for Durant. Is a trade headlined by Robert Williams getting you KD? No. Bam would though.

Re: Offseason Thread VOL 4- MILLSAP MANIA
Bam is our most under appreciated player since Chris Bosh. People only truly started appreciating Chris when he went down with the illness.
If judging a players offensive and defensive impact was as easy as looking at the box-score, there wouldn't be numerous mathematicians, statisticians, and data scientists working for every single NBA team, including the NBA itself. They could just hire realGM folks, who are box-score experts, for the job and save millions

Re: Offseason Thread VOL 4- MILLSAP MANIA
I'm probably in the minority but I'm intrigued with the idea of acquiring Simmons. I mean if "Heat Culture" is actually a real thing then we should be fairly confident in the team's ability to get Simmons on track
But to compensate for Simmons' lack of outside shooting I'd use him and KD as an interchangeable switching PF/C duo and keep a shooter in the lineup (Durant proved to be a solid rim-protector in GS and I believe Simmons could be as well). Have a starting 5 of switchable guys who can all play and defend multiple positions
F/C - Simmons
F/C - Durant
F/G - Yimmy
G/F - Strus
G/F - Dipo

Simmons isn't anything but a headcase right now, and there's no indication that he's ever going to be able to contribute. Last we saw of him he was passing up a dunk/layup down 2 points with 3:30 left in game 7 of the Eastern Conference Semifinals.
Forget the screwed over Philly/Brooklyn thing. What are you going to do with an NBA player so averse to pressure that he can't dunk a ball with the season on the line? What are you going to do with an NBA player that feels so much pressure that he won't even attempt a wide open jumper in a low stakes regular season game?
NBA fans know he's weak in the head and they will be merciless with him. And I'm sure players will be too. Of all the potential outcomes for Ben Simmons, I think him turning it around and becoming even what he once was is the least likely scenario.
.

Thank god the Heat understand he’s the most important player on the team. Maybe the fans will wake tf up and stop expecting a 24 year old to be fully developed and completely flawless.
In the meantime, 19-10-4 while being the best defender in the world is pretty damn good.

Ya'll are really trying to use a 15 game sample size from December/January to convince yourself that Bam is expendable due to the presence of Yurtseven.
