Re: ***Official 2021-22 Offseason Thread***
Some of you guys are smoking crack out of a grapefruit. Mitchell is a lock top 20 player. Simmons has become way underrated, but he's not a lead alpha type like Mitchell, who can flatout takeover a high level playoff series, let alone a game or two.
Him, good role guys, a defensive anchor and good coaching is like an instant ticket to the 2nd round most years.
Idk that he's the #1 on a title team, but there aren't many that are in this league period, and I feel comfortable saying with a player of nearly equal level impact, they can be.
It's a shame he can't be on the same roster as Ben, they would actually be an absolutely ideal pairing on paper.
I'll tell you what, him, Ayton, Siakam, Royce O'neal, another ball handler/initiator and some shooters who can D, with a real coach, that's a straight up contender.

I would trade KD for Mitchell straight up if Kyrie was traded as an immediate follow up. Trade Ben somewhere for a proper fit younger guy to pair with Mitchell that would meet league rookie super max rules.
I'd trade KD and Simmons for Mitchell and picks, or in the same vein as above to avoid the rookie super max rule.
Like a 4 team deal that sent KD, Kyrie and Simmons out and brought back Mitchell, Norman Powell and Ayton, with some in the future unprotected 1st('s).

Re: ***Official 2021-22 Offseason Thread***
I think you guys are overestimating Ben's trade value right now. He's owed 3 years 110 million. He didn't play all of last year - partially because he didn't want to, partially because of a bad back injury. He's proven he's willing to quit on a team. And he prefers to play only in big markets. AND his value was low before he missed the season because of his disastrous playoff run.
Getting Mitchell is great. But we'll have to send a lot of the draft assets we should be getting for KD right over to Utah. I just wouldn't feel good about selling low on all 3 of our guys.
Also it's no surprise but KD is purposefully sabotaging our potential trade market for him. He hasn't expanded his list beyond Phoenix and Miami so no one else is willing to offer anything for him. Miami is not going to sit and wait all summer, they're going to push for Mitchell and take themselves out of the running. We'll be left with Phoenix and every other team not wanting to trade big value for an unhappy KD.

You're not getting anything close to similar talent or value for Simmons right now though.
In a situation where you HAVE to trade him to bring in a Mitchell, you'd essentially just be trading him to make things work. Whatever picks or players you'd get from the Suns would mostly be going to the Jazz. It would effectively be Simmons, KD for Mitchell.
A team of Mitchell and role players with little to no draft picks would not be ideal. I don't think Mitchell is a player you build around either.

Re: ***Official 2021-22 Offseason Thread***
Kyrie to LAC for Powell/Mann/future unprotected 1st
KD/Cam Thomas to Phoenix for Bridges/Ayton/Cam Johnson/1sts
Simmons/Bridges/Harris/most of the 1sts from other deals to Utah for Mitchell/Conley
PG: Conley/Curry/Mills
SG: Mitchell/Mann/Mills
SF: Powell/Mann/Cam Johnson/Edwards
PF: O'Neale/Cam Johnson/Sharpe
C: Ayton/Claxton/Sharpe
Keep 1 of the hopefully better 1sts from either LAC or Phoenix and a swap or 2 from Phoenix

Were really all in on paying Mitchell 40 million after he couldn't get out of the First Round?
Hes not that guy. AND we have to trade Simmons?
No thanks.

So apparently Kyrie doesn't even want out.
Proves that KD and Kyrie are not really united on this whole thing.
If so, then why even trade KD right now?

He's made it to the 2nd round twice brochacho.
I dare you with a straight face to name me more than 16 better players last year in the NBA.
I also dare you to name me more than 19 players in the league better than him this coming year assuming all the usual suspects are healthy.
Personally I have him as the 12th best player last year.
He's a proven commodity, a straight team leading stud, who raises his level of play and his teams in the playoffs. He's 26. He's from the area. He still has further ceiling to adjust some things, get better shot selection if he had a teammate who could take pressure off him and improve nuances of his game. He still comes across as humble.
He is that guy. He is a guy you mortgage the future for.

Kyrie is playing the media game.
His intentions are clear. He opted in for 1 year and then he's going to leave. We've seen how difficult he is when he's committed to the team. Ask Boston how difficult he is once he's already checked out. He and his team know the Nets want no part of that.
KD won't back down on his trade demand and keeping Kyrie without KD is a disaster waiting to happen. This is just PR for Kyrie so he can say Brooklyn didn't want me, I had no choice in this. Even though he was looking for teams to trade for him 2 weeks ago. He opted in because his only other option was taking a 30 million dollar paycut.

If Kyrie wants to leave he has to earn that contract.
Nobody will want him if he has another typical Kyrie season.

Just to chime in the discussion.
I personally have no issue with Mitchell being here. I think he's the type of guy ownership and FO would want. A young all-star, with a potential to be the face of the franchise. However, my issue here is he wouldn't be able to play with Simmons due to that freakin' designated rookie extension bull crap.
Should we acquire Mitchell, that would mean we have to give up BOTH KD & Simmons. Kyrie has no value, so I don't expect a player in return.
In any trade, I would've wanted to get a young all-star/potential all-star in return for KD (ex. Brown/Ingram) and pairing him up with Simmons. This way, we still get to have 2 all-stars (though Ben is an enigma now). Worse case, we rehabilitate Simmon's value, and flip him for another young, up and coming talent.
At this point, any trade involving Simmons would be a loss for us (see Houston picks).

No sir, it’s not a PR move. Kyrie really wants to be a Net but is saying if they don’t want to pay him, he would prefer to be on a few selected teams who don’t want him. The “circus” has come to a head and the reality is showing KD wants to move on from Kyrie, hence why he said with or without KD. Look at the timing of Kai’s opt in and KDs trade request and now Kyrie saying this.

But that's clearly not it. They were playing pick up together just 2 days ago.
I believe this is a power play by KD and Irving to get Irving paid. If we do run it back Irving will be seriously motivated as he needs to perform to get paid his next deal.
