Welcome Michael Foster Jr.

Post#1 » by 76ciology » Tue Jul 12, 2022 1:41 pm

Foster averaged 32.2 points, 18.4 rebounds and 4.1 assists in his senior season for Hillcrest Prep, leading the team to a 37-1 record and earning him the No. 7 spot in the 2021 ESPN 100 rankings of top high school prospects.

Several prominent NBA draft analysts viewed Foster as one of the best players not selected this year. Bleacher Report’s Jonathan Wasserman ranked Foster No. 2 among undrafted prospects at summer league. He fell No. 3 on ESPN’s list of “best available” players following the draft, while Sports Illustrated’s Jeremy Woo had Foster second on his post-draft big board.

At the NBA draft combine, Foster was 6-7.75 without shoes and 236.6 pounds with a wingspan a touch over 7 feet. He told NBA Draft Big Board’s Rafael Barlowe he’d hit a goal of reaching 250 pounds and then been told he should slim down.

A five-star high school recruit, Foster committed to Arizona State in 2017, but the Milwaukee native eventually decided to join G League Ignite. Playing alongside top-40 picks Dyson Daniels, MarJon Beauchamp and Jaden Hardy, Foster averaged 15.5 points and 9.5 rebounds in 25 games last season.

Good upside as a shooter?

He definitely has good potential. Good signing with no risk and all upside.

He's had some nice defensive moments this summer, raw, but might have a future as a bulky 3-4-5 with some skill. Given how bad Champaignie has looked, if he doesn't improve during G-league play I can see foster replacing him as a 2 way player. More likely play in Delaware this year, move up to 2 way contract next year if Foster develops.

He’s got the profile of an ideal modern 4/5 if he can develop his shot and feel for the game. He’s really gotta improve his lateral movement and positioning if he wants to be an NBA defender tho.

Clean looking shot. Kinda small for PF, but decent pickup.

Exhibit 10. Usually means he'll end up on the Blue Coats, right?

Exciting raw prospect that is well worth a chance. Surprising he didn't even get picked in the 2nd round.

I log in daily to see the 'breaking news' Tobias & Thybulle traded and daily I'm disappointed.

This signing; I'll take it ✓

Physically hes mature beyond his years as its rare for a 19 year old to have his frame. Almost every facet of his game needs loads of development, but the opportunity cost is a no brainer considering his upside.

Nice stuff on Springer in that video. Looks like he has potential on defense as a rim protector and flashes some offensive ability as a roll man and vertical big. Think he's got a chance to carve out a role a few years down the line with development.

Swing skill for Foster is going to be his BB IQ, I think. He’s bit of a black hole out there, not sure what to do unless he’s looking for his own shot. Not saying he has to be a primary playmaker, but backup bigs need to know how to be useful without a lot of shots.

Don't we have a 2-way slot available? Seems unlikely that Foster gets a regular roster spot. Would he be an option for the second 2-way slot?

I’d give him Charlie browns spot.

Champagnie has the first two-way spot. According to basketball reference, we currently don't have a 2nd player signed to a 2-way contract.

This guy is super young with upside. His shot looked good and he looks like a future dog enforcer. He's strong as a ox. Just needs time.

His physique and his mobility reminds me of Daniel Orton
