Scottie Pippen Jr and Shareef O’Neal?

Post#1 » by Kilroy » Tue Jul 12, 2022 5:44 pm

Will they make it to the regular roster this season, or are they D, G, Whatever league material only?

I’ve barely seen either one of them play but as long as they’re not Klutch, I can believe. Pippen Jr has good hands. I’d sign O’Neal now, just in case…

I think Pippen Jr will be on the roster but it depends on pending trades.

Shareef is a G leaguer for now.

SPJ has great fundamentals, court vision, IQ etc. My only concern is his height, too short to cover SF's and SGs. He reminds me of Tyus Jones.

I was critical of getting Pippen Jr over a wing prospect but he looks the part. Tenacious defender, has a good pull up 3 with smooth shooting mechanics and solid vision for a floor general. I can see him getting some regular season minutes if we move both Westbrook and Nunn in trades. He reminds a bit of Monte Morris.

I think Tyus is a good comp. I say Tyus with a slight decrease in court vision. He a smart defender but is so small and can get killed by bigger stronger players. My concern is role on the parent team. He's behind Russ, nunn, possibly Tht.

Shareef for sure is a g league guy but he at least has a clear path. I just don't think I take him over Huff and swider

If Shareef ends up being anywhere near the sheer size of his dad, talented or not; sign him. Pippen Jr has good hands, will easily grasp coach’s defensive concepts.

I can't believe he is listed as 6-3 because he looks so short out there as compared to other players. Sports-reference seems more accurate stating that he is 6-1. He has a different skill set as compared to the Laker's guards. THT and Russ are more of attackers/rim seekers while Nunn is more of a shooter. I would rather have him if only he is 6-4.
Swilder's shooting stroke seems legit, he is at least 6-7, hopefully he has enough foot speed and lateral quickness to defend actual NBA players.
I like Huff's vertical wingspan and timing, enabling him to block and bother shots. It's a shame he was put in cover protocol, preventing him to showcase his worth.

Yes he can, but so do thousands of HS and college players around the world. I really thought he would be great in college Bec of size and guidance but didn't show much. 2.6 pmts, 3 Rebs for his 37 college career games, probably the only guy who gets an invlte esp from the Lakers with that mediocre stats.
Shaq didn't want him to go to the draft, probably didn't have the heart to tell him he's not good...at least not really..yet.. but he wouldn't listen.

Shareef arguably isn’t even g-league caliber

Oh no way he is 6-4. At 6-4 he is a draftable player. I thought he was 6-1. I agree he does have the best outside game compared to all 3 (I don't remember how good of a shooter Nunn is).

Swider's shot is looking legit tho! If he can at least becomes a neutral defender he needs to be on the team.

Man Huff was looking good he would be such a good fit with LeBron and AD too. If he comes back playing the same I think we see him in a couple games

Call me crazy bec I believe that SPJ is actually better than the young PGs that OKC, Rockets and other teams are playing in the SPL. He could play as a legit back up for bad teams, I think it's the stigma of carrying that name.

Pippen is not a floor general from what little I’ve seen. He’s a small defensive scoring centered PG at this point. Hopefully his vision and passing game will develop into NBA grade.
