Let's hope Wall can do the things that Rondo couldn't do for us on a consistent basis, which is set guys up, make plays, and get things going when the offense goes stale. No need for him to get buckets. He's needed to help the offense run better.

I agree- I hope he sets up players, but also gets points- mainly in transition where is still probably athletic enough to be dangerous

Love that he called us a first class organization.

All the work Ballmer and the front office has done has paid off towards that end. It’s a beautiful thing to see and here. If he thinks that, other players in the league think that.

This is a great point- I think it shows that the Clippers under Ballmer have done a complete 180 from one of the worst franchises in all of professional sport.

We do of course have to win a title with this group, but they have been busy putting all the pieces together on and off the court, and it shows.

What’s this left in the tank talk?

He’s 32 all next season.
If he’s healthy and gets his legs under him, I expect him to perform well….

The L.A. Clippers have a record of 32-7 versus the Lakers since 2012-13.

“Left in the tank” may not be the right phrase—but we need to acknowledge the reality. Wall has had surgery on his knee (twice) and heel. He tore an achilles, which is a huge injury that some NBA players never come back from. In the last five years, he’s missed two full seasons in their entirety, including last season, and played 41 games or less in the other three seasons. He’s a guy that relied on his quickness and speed early in his career (he had combine bests in agility and speed drills when he got drafted) … how much of that will be left? I mean, I’m cautiously optimistic, but I’m also realistic. If Wall can play 1500 minutes next year—that’s 22-25 mpg for 60-65 games—and be 75% of the player he once was, it will be fantastic. And it may be too much to hope for.

I’m hopin’ anyway; I’m a Clippers fan. 8-)

Love that he’s been involved with many of the workouts. Not just for the work but chemistry building too.

After his "Batman" comments, I am reserved to the fact that the guy doesn't have the mental fortitude for us to depend on him to be great. He is just a role payer and to expect anything more than that would be expecting too much. Never want to see the ball in his hands with the game on the line. Never want him trying to be a hero. He may have some good games here and there, but he isn't giving us a Big 3 (Powell would be the closest 3 in that scenario). Instead, We have a Big 2 surrounded by quality role player depth.

We just need to keep Kawhi and PG healthy throughout the regular season, so they can take over in the playoffs.

If we want to make some pickups to improve the roster, then we need to package Kennard and Morris ($30M). We could probably land Myles Turner, Kevin Love (expiring), or Al Horford (expiring) in some kind of package. Kennard is never going to get big playoff minutes with his defense, so some additional size would be nice. Morris isn't getting any better, nor is he getting any smarter with his decision making. The only way to ensure Ty plays him less is to ensure he isn't there for Ty to play.

anyway

always good to see kawhi progressing. definitely would've liked to have seen wall get more air on that dunk but not like it really tells us much anyway. the news and notes coming out of training camp and preseason are going to be a lot more telling and exciting for what is to come.

I like what Wall has said. I don’t see his Batman comments as lacking mental toughness. You can tell he’s hungry to play and show that he still has something in the tank.

I shows he’s not trying to come in with it’s my team, my way, etc… Like Batum and Jackson he knows he can fit in and provide things we were lacking a bit.

It’s smart to temper expectations but I’m optimistic and excited to see how it turns out.

Some more pics ….

Wall looks more muscular than in the past- looks very sturdy. Hopefully he still has some of that great mobility

I wish the release point on his jumper was higher, of course I don’t really care as long as he shoots decently.

And the ‘not Batman’ comments were absolutely the best thing he could say coming onto this team. He’ll get his chances anyway, he just needs to let them happen organically and he knows that.
