FU Ainge! Keep a disgruntled DM for a half of season before you come to your own senses.
Randle, Grimes, IQ, McBride, and 5 1st round picks for DM
That’s more than enough and I don’t want Grimes in it but it gets rid of Randle.

I'd also add NY's unprotected 25' pick if we could lottery protect 27. I'd hate to lose Obi but it makes the most sense given FO's obsession with Randle isn't changing anytime soon.

The point is, there's always going to be a star up for trade, and Presti's trade just involve picks, he doesn't care as much about getting players, picks, real estate and first borns in return like Ainge does.
We were awful whenever Julius was on the floor -164, when Obadiah was in the games we were +165 and a fun team. I feel like if we go into next season Grimes or Cam gets a chance at winning the 2 (3 for Cam) guard spot, and who knows what happens, maybe one of them has a breakout year like Bane did, that would completely change our fortunes moving forward.
Obi is better than Randle. Randle is paid big money and no other teams want him. He will be back and he will play a lot of minutes again. Cam stinks. Grimes had a chance to take Fournier spot but Fournier gets paid more and he’s a vet and we are going with the same rotation next year just add Brunson. Nothing exciting about it. Same team. No fortunes are being changed![]()
This was dark, I feel like you're listening to this -
But nah, you can't start Brunson and Fournier together, that will not work, somebody between Cam and Grimes would end up starting if we don't trade for Mitchell.
I don’t drink but it feels like having to follow the Knicks is more toxic than alcohol
Either way, bench Fournier insert Grimes team still stinks. I already know how we will play, it will be Brunson Randle two man game. RJ and Grimes spotting up in corners, Robinson in rolling / clogging the paint. Randle and Brunson will try to operate on the strong side, RJ and others on the weak side, they will take turns trying to get a switch to settle for step back mid range jumpers. Then some iso Randle followed by more Iso Randle. Our pace will be slow, RJ won’t get many touches to create on offense. Team will fight for a play in spot and probably miss out and get rewarded with the 12th pick

We don't but for the right price, Donovan Mitchell is the move to make. If we could keep some of our young players and give up at most 2 unprotected picks along with the other 1st rounders we can give, that's the move to make.
They want 6 first rounders, Obi, McBride, IQ and Grimes.
That is far above the deal you're thinking of.
That's what Ainge wants, Leon said no and walked away. We're not gonna give up that. The right deal is somewhere in the middle.

I remember when blockbuster star player trades were like a decent vet to match salaries, a solid young player, 2-3 picks and 1-2 swaps.
Now we’re talking literally all our young players, 6-8 picks, and 2-3 swaps lol. All for friggin Mitchell.
Leon will get it down to 5 picks (3-4 unprotected Knick ones), 2 swaps, and maybe keep one of RJ, Obi, Grimes, IQ and call it a win.
Help us lawd!!!!

Like salaries, trade values go up every season.
Shaq’s max deal in 2000 probably less or in the range of Julius current deal.
No point in comparing now to the past.

NYK have to be willing to play hardball. Walk away if necessary and save the haul for the next guy…like a Jaylen Brown. I’m OK with a fair package but not much more than that. Ainge wants to maximize losses and avoid an ugly situation with Spida… he’s on a tightrope.

Trades of yonder as I faintly recollect (in the mid 90s) are like that with minimal draft picks involved
but now we have execs like trader danny and equally gullible management from other teams.

he probably wants more picks than he received in the Gobert deal. I am like hey, I am not paying because one gm was an idiot. I think 4 picks plus talent maybe one swap might do it. I hate swaps, I would push for no swaps

The Lakers did that, won a title, now their team looks like it's on welfare and the 26 yr old all-star they traded a kings ransom for isn't as good as they thought. The Nets also traded a lot for Harden, didn't work out.
I'm just not a fan of these kind of trade the farm for 1 guy type deals.
You wouldn't trade the farm for a title? Are you a Knicks fan. We haven't won since the 70s.
The Anthony Davis trade worked out since they got a ring out of it. Who cares if you're on welfare afterwards. Totally worth it. Bad example.
They traded for Harden past his prime. He was, what? 31? And the dude doesn't take care of his body, coming in to camp out of shape. Completely unprofessional. The red flags were apparent.
Do we have LeBron James on our team right now? You do this type of trade if you already have that guy on your team, you don't do this to get someone who isn't a top 10 player.
You're fighting the good fight in these threads and I respect that. But we're always boring af and Donovan isn't boring so fck them picks.

Getting Donovan on a 4 year deal (3 + 1 PO) aligns with Brunson, the new deal for RJ, and Randle. That's appealing.
Be happy about that.

If it's only 2 unprotected pics, that part of the deal is more than fair IMO. Do you disagree?
