They were close to a deal, Ainge is getting more than the 2 unprotected picks you want to give up. It's gonna be a landslide

If it's only 2 unprotected pics, that part of the deal is more than fair IMO. Do you disagree?

It's going to be more than 2 Wingo, Dejounte Murray got 3 first rounders, this is going to be written about for years after it happens.

I suggest people leave the Knicks bubble for a bit, and just go look at what people are saying about what Ainge asked for, across the board people are saying any team willing to pay that price for Mitchell is nuts. And these are the same people who usually say our young players suck. If we give up anything close to what he's asking we're ****.

But hey I guess it’s true, you cant rebuild in NY after all.

Yep.

But I think the Knicks will do whatever it takes. I'm not against the trade, but I don't want them to pull another Melo-esque trade. Basically leaving the team handicapped and complaining that Donovan Mitchell doesn't have talent surrounding him.

With what the Knicks have to offer, they can get two significant star players down the line (not this summer, they'll have to be patient). Or they can continue to use their picks to build around their current core

Starting to appear like more and more Knick fans on social media are turning against this trade. I don’t think Dolan will force this trade if majority of the fans aren’t behind it. This will be Leon’s call and I think he’s going to walk away from it.

i'm just gonna say that i dont think dolan reads twitter

it's probably all about the bottom line for him. if the move makes money, he'll make it and if it doesn't he won't. getting mitchell probably in theory makes him money as a large marketable brand name that'll move tickets and jerseys

Jazz fans are fist pumping at the idea of the trade, their reddit is celebrating at the idea of that package and watching our summer league games

If the fans you're trading with aren't miserable you know something isn't good for you.

Ainge is acting in bad faith. He wants to milk the Knicks of whatever assets they have when the competing offers can't even half of that.

This organization has to learn to step away from these kind of offers if they ever want to be taken seriously.

Yeah, its not like Mitchell would be a great fit that would put them over the top. No reason to mortgage the entire future for him. Wouldn't mind experimenting with some of it, but not all of it.

FU Ainge! Keep a disgruntled DM for a half of season before you come to your own senses.

Randle, Grimes, IQ, McBride, and 5 1st round picks for DM

That’s more than enough and I don’t want Grimes in it but it gets rid of Randle.

If that's the deal you can tell Danny boy to shove it up his ass.

Ainge is doing what’s best for his organization. Unless DM starts back channeling his displeasure and demands a trade to NY there’s absolutely no rush to get a deal done. I’d be perfectly fine with the situation playing out until regular season.

Also while Leon’s draft history has been murky, he doesn’t operate like past regimes. I don’t expect him to give up the farm.

It’s funny some folks think they have way more control over what happens here. Nobody in the organization cares what Knicks fans on social media say. Whatever happens is going to happen, we can’t post it into or out of existence

It depends on what the plans are beyond this move and how much we give up for him. If this is it, then yeah.

The reasoning that this is why you collected all the picks is to get a guy like DM is not an excuse to blow the whole wad on him....leave something to work with, don't be tapped out on draft assets...

Although, who would do Mitchell for Evan, Cam, Grimes, Deuce and 6 picks..... anyone...anyone?

Keep RJ, OBI, Quick and Sims but devastate the draft capital, go from 11 firsts in 7 years to 5 in the 7...oof

Who's left?

Brunson/DM/Rose
DM/IQ/RJ
RJ/Hunt
Randle/Obi
Meetch/Hart/Sims

...and a tough road to improve that with few draft assets left, a tightening cap with RJ joining the $25+mil crew to expand it to 4.

A deal like that might be too expensive if it all goes to crap ...yet this is the Knicks so the crash is probably inevitable no matter what they do might as well go for it.

If you'd rather see your team fail so you can be right
...you are a fan of your opinion not the team.

In all honesty I do think there is a fair middle ground that both teams fans could accept.

We're talking the obvious salary fillers (Some combination of Rose, Fournier, Cam, Deuce, plus Cam, plus 1 of IQ, Obi or Grimes, around 5 picks of which 2 would be unprotected Knicks picks, plus swaps in 1-2 other drafts.

Realistically that could still leave us with first round picks in consecutive years (maybe some of these other teams picks convey?) and I am sure we will find ways to snag late firsts elsewhere. We most probably trade Randle or Mitch at the deadline anyway.
