Tracy McGrady leaving adidas?

Post#1 » by chuck_wagon44 » Fri Jul 15, 2022 1:12 am

I'm surprised adidas was still supporting this bum after his lackluster and underwhelming nba career. (Don't let the hall of fame votes fool you, he didn't deserve to be in the HOF)

Tracy was going to attend Kentucky University until Adidas signed him to $12 million. I get it they've always been attached but they should figure things out.

I just remember that they stopped making him his own signature shoes as soon as he declined

well, i just found out yesterday Reebok is paying AI $800k per year until he is 55 at which point they'd pay him $32M to close out that contract.

I don't know anything about the business of shoes. Excluding the Tiger Woods/Michael Jordan/Lebron level famous athletes, do long-retired players still move merchandise?

I can't picture any 20 yr olds buying shoes for T-Mac. Me and Tracy are darn close in age, I remember his entire career, and I don't care about him that much anymore.

Yet Reebok still probably made out like bandits on that deal.

Why would adidas pay players that are long retired? I don’t get it? What’s Adidas getting out of paying T-Mac? Does he still move adidas merchandise?

That's my thought as well. I understand guys like Jordan/Kobe who have a big following but Tmac never had that after his retirement.

He didn't have a career good enough nor did he stay in the public eye to warrant having his own shoes but I don't stay informed on these things and know nothing lol.

I was big T-Mac fan. I thought he was great for a short amount of time. I don’t remember him having his own sneakers though.

Why does t-mac get associated with the rockets so much??? Really with his rockets run along with yao?

His best t-mac sneakers(1-3) all came out while his playing for orlando. I get they sell in asia because he played with yao a few years. But if you know about the tmac 1-3 you clearly know he wore those all in orlando not in Houston. Kinda odd how he seems to always get tied to houston so much more then orlando when his best years and his best sneakers came out when he was in orlando.

The tmac 1-3 where amazing basketball sneakers to play in and they looked dope( especially the 2). Such a fun time in orlando seeing all the kids come back to school after Christmas break rocking t-mac.

Miss T-Mac so much man. Don't get all the hate he gets. He had an amazing peak considering his teammates and all. No one tries to bolster him to something he's not, and he's not toxic either.

Tmac was a beast those couple of years in Orlando prior to injuries and had incredible talent … he was my man as a youngster along with Kobe at that time

But I don’t see many people still wearing his merchandise or discussing it … it’s not like Jordan who still sells shoes long after retirement

So I don’t get what the big deal is

And I don’t get why he gets hate … his career was plagued by injuries and he was still ascending when they occurred … I remember when they were discussing Tmac vs Durant one on one not too long ago … prime Mac would pimp slap Durant one on one

Just for information: here overseas, Tmac is pretty much well known and respected among nba fans, for example, at least here in Italy, there's not a noticeable difference between him and Iverson (I say Iverson, because I feel in USA his brand is way bigger than Tmac's ).
I'm Italian, forgive me if my English is not good.
