for as long as i have been a member of this board, knick fans always think the asking price is too high and overvalue the young kids we have. on every deal ever. it's always the same. it's always too much. you can see it happening right now, the summer league threads are ridiculous. y'all the same people who thought landry fields would be special. jesus.

yes these kids are overrated. only player i would hate losing would be grimes but you can find players like him in every draft if i am being honest. the only question is the picks cause there's a chance we can still suck. but personally, idc. give them it. i want some entertainment

Lmao I mean….you got a point. F those picks.

With that said, that proposed offer is fine with me long as we keep either Grimes or IQ for the bench scoring.

Take Obi, Deuce, Cam, those picks. Just leave me IQ or Grimes. 1 of them.

Sigh, one more time.

Rose, Fournier, IQ, McBride, Knicks 2023 1st/Knicks 2025 1st/Knicks 2027 1st/Mavs 2023 1st/Wiz 2024-5 1st/Pistons 2024-5 1st/Bucks 2025 1st. All the Knicks picks unprotected, all those other picks probably fall 18-25, Bucks pick probably 24-29.
Right to pick swap in ...2026.

7 picks.
One guy picked in the 20's, proven to be useful. Two salary filler vets that don't suck.

Brunson/Mitchell
Mitchell/Grimes
RJ/Cam
Randle/Obi
Mitch/Hartenstein/Sims

Fill out roster with some combination of Melo or Paschdall or Hunt, probably need a 3rd string PG

Knicks have 1st round picks in 2024/2026/2028/2029 etc

And the future? Will the Knicks have enough left to build a championship team?

This is the future you have 4 starters 25 and under with this trade, you have to replace bench pieces which are much easier to replace then trying to find capable starters to build around mitchell and brunson. The stockpile was meant for a trade like this. Stars win championships not average bench players.

I get that you don’t care who or what is traded because you just wanted to feel some excitement for a year or two instead of watch anymore draft picks but the Melo trade was awful for this franchise and handicapped them in terms of making any additional moves. This trade would be even worse than that.

If you can acknowledge that you don’t care about the price and want to get Mitchell at all costs then that’s cool. Mitchell ain’t worth 6 unprotected firsts and whatnot but if that’s what people want then go for it. But there shouldn’t be future complaints when the team is unable to make any additional big moves due to their lack of assets.

I think everyone would welcome Mitchell with a fair trade.

Some of you are just desperate now though saying “fck them kidz n pickz, give em whatever they want! entertain me for a few years because my life is so boring!”. You are terrible negotiators.

Idc what you think of our youth and how the picks will be, we must fight til the end. This will be Leon’s signature move hes been building years towards. Tread carefully.

it's why danny ainge is using the media. he's trying to flood the zone with the leaks hoping that dolan will catch wind of it if he doesn't already know what's going in.

Danny Ainge is trying to pull a Masia Ujiri on James Dolan.

Dolan will pressure Leon to cave and give Ainge everything he wants and more, I have no doubt that’s how it will go down.

its the weird situation where its in both parties best interest to get this done soon.

Knicks will look bad accumulating all these picks to acquire a star and passing on a star that actually wants to be here

Ainge wants to tank...its clear as day...he doesn't want to have a unhappy Mitchell going into training camp.

This is another overlooked aspect the folks who want to wait for another start to come a long aren’t seeing.. there’s no guarantee that next guy should even want to come to the Knicks. Players nowadays pretty much can control the destination they get sent to so there’s rarely ever a league wide bidding war where the best of the best offer wins

knicks been trying to get a star here since the start of the phil jackson era. he came here in 2014. that's 8 years and counting so far. he couldn't. mills couldn't. and so far leon hasn't.

i heard someone say something the other day and it's sadly true. if we got donovan, he'd be the 3rd best knick we had since ewing. ewing, melo, donovan. patrick ewing was drafted in 1985. that's 37 years and he'd be our 3rd best star

Look at my proposed trade.
Only "youth" going out is IQ and McBride.
I like IQ, McBride easily replaceable.
Knicks send out 3 of their own picks, unprotected. It sucks, but it's Donovan Mitchell and you have to pay to play.
The other 4 picks are the last of the KP trade and the result of trading the 2023 #1 - and it's already gone, and Walker/Burks/Noel.

Sucks to lose IQ. Not wild about trading picks in every other year in a 5 year window. Couldn't not give a sh*t about the other 4 picks.

I think with Leon's CAA and other ties, he has more power to calm Dolan down unlike past Presidents, especially your more "traditional" GM/POBOs like Walsh and Greenwald

Ainge is definitely betting that Dolan intervenes and brings Isiah Thomas into the fold lol.

Reports are already coming out that the Knicks backed away from a "historic haul". And fans seem to be happy that the Knicks didn't pull the trigger.

Anyways, stay the course and be patient.

This front office is not going to get fleeced here. They understand their offer is going to be the best Utah can get and puts the pressure on Ainge.

nobody said you had to make a horrible deal or you couldn't negotiate (well maybe melo did lol) but you do have to get it done if you're leon.
