Re: Trade Ideas for This Season
I wonder if we'll get a dark horse that makes an 11th hour offer kinda like how I was convinced it was the Bulls/Hawks with Rudy until the last moment, I personally think something like this would be awesome for both teams:
UTA out: Mitchell
UTA In: Murphy, Daniels, Graham, Temple, LAL 23, LAL 24, MIL 25, NOP 26 Swap, MIL 27
Why for Jazz? Daniels/Bolmoro/Murphy/Vanderbilt/Kessler is a reallly long, interesting, and bad team. Gamble they that these four picks (mainly the lakers) will have a higher value than any Knicks combination.
NOP In: Mitchell
NOP out: Murphy, Daniels, Graham, Temple, LAL 23, LAL 24, MIL 25, MIL 27
Why for NOP? Mitchell, CJ, Ingram, Zion, Valanciunas with Jones, Nance, Alverado on the bench is a top-tier 8-man rotation. Plus, they keep all their own picks.

Ayton no longer in play for the Jazz.
Perhaps Durant no longer in play for the Suns.

Apparently we asked the Knicks for Toppin, Quickley, McBride, Grimes, and 6 1sts.

I’m watching the Knicks summer league game and Grimes, and particularly McBride, are having good games and looking good.

How can Donovan come back to Utah knowing all of this bidding has gone on? I think we have seen the last of Spida here in Utah

Undoubtedly. I’m glad that Donovan and his team haven’t gone public with any demands. I would still clap for him during pregame intros.

100% the jazz fan base seems torn but I wonder what the truth really is .... Did Donovan want to leave deep down you know ?

This is the part of the trade speculation that gets pretty hilarious to me. Not all Knicks fans, but some that are declaring that more than just Brunson-Randle-Barrett are not worth trading in the deal for Donovan Mitchell is pretty humorous to me. Like Quentin Grimes or Obi Toppin is going to be a deal breaker for Donovan Mitchell...

Like Donovon Mitchell is worth SIX #1's, that's what I laugh at. He probably does want to go to NY (he wants a bigger market) but I'd balk at that payday as well unless all the picks are lottery protected. Ainge is still a scheister

Someone is a bit angry, we'll see what another team is willing to trade for him. It's not really up to anyones opinion.

Not angry at all, just laughing at what Ainge thinks DM is worth

Ainge's job is not to get what he thinks DM is worth. His job is to get the best out of what 29 other teams think he's worth... + what he has leverage to ask for.

You need to understand the value of those "1st round picks", though. Since most those picks are from teams other than the Knicks, many are highly protected (some could end up being 2nd round picks due to those protections), others are picks likely in the 20's. It's not like they are a bunch of lottery picks. Trading DM for 6 picks, if they end up being something like; 1 lottery, three later 1st rounders and two 2nd rounders, isn't very good. They need to get Knick unprotected picks & pick swaps, to make the deal worth while, IMO.
The non-Knick picks really aren't as sexy as people want to think they are:
Mavericks first round pick (protected top 10 in 2023-25, else 2025 second round pick)
-- so this one is likely going to be a mid-20's 1st rounder
Nuggets first round pick (protected top 14 in 2023-25, else 2025 second round pick, 2026 second round pick)
-- so this one should be a 1st round pick in the later half of the order, or if the Nugs don't perform well, will be a 2nd rounder
Pistons first round pick (protected top 16 in 2021-22, top 18 in 2023-24, top 13 in 2025, top 11 in 2026, top 9 in 2027, else 2027 second round pick)
-- so this one very-well could end up being a 2nd round pick
Wizards first round pick (protected top 14 in 2023, top 12 in 2024, top 10 in 2025, top 8 in 2026, else 2026 second round pick, 2027 second round pick)
-- so this one looks similar to Pistons, where unless the team gets out of the lottery in the next couple years, it'll be a 2nd round pick (top 8 protected in 2026 could be the best case scenario, if they are in the 9-13 range)

Not all 1RP’s are created equal, you know that. The Washington & Detroit ones will be out of the lottery and the Washington one may never convey as a 1st.
Once again, my point is, where do you not want Mitchell if you’re NY? Toppin? Grimes? Quickly? Which one of those guys is where the Knicks don’t want a player with multiple playoff appearances.

Re: Trade Ideas for This Season
Knicks fan here coming in peace. (I'm tired of talking to them on the Knicks forum.
)
If the Knicks try and force RJ on you, is that a deal breaker for you? From my perspective, RJ is a 4th option on a Knicks' team with Brunson, Mitchell, and Randle on it. But on the Jazz, and only 22 years old, he can be a nice piece as a young leader who can help set the culture in Utah for all the incoming young players you have. In any event, he's still much less expensive than Donovan.

Conley & Gay for Poetl & Richardson - we need a 5, Richardson could be flipped and we get off Conley & Gays Contract. If we don't trade Donovan we need to get rid of the logjam at the 1.
Donovan, Beverly, Butler
Clarkson, Richardson, NAW,
Beasley, Bolmaro
Bojan, Vanderbilt
Poetl, Azibuke, Kessler

Very doubtful, to say the least. The Spurs will want draft picks in any deals for Poeltl or Richardson. They won’t have any interest in a player swap.
