Re: Official Scottie Barnes Thread 3
I think the scoring will not take as big of a jump because of the people taking shots and also Barnes is not a perimeter shot creator right now and needs more time to develop his skillset.
On the other hand, I think the assist numbers will be high. There will be shooting on the floor and FVV will move to a more off the ball role. The Raptors also had the least assists in the NBA and I think that improves.
I also think the impact numbers and defense will be a lot better.
17/8/6
50/35/75
The scoring explosion will happen just don't think it happens this soon.

Scottie looks like a cheat-code out there... unreal - we don't come close to winning that game without him. Offseason made me forget how special this kid is. Even looked dominant in the playoffs as a rookie, that's no small feat. KD can stay in BKN, Scottie is rightfully untouchable.

Some haters will still want to trade him for KD.

Wow, this guy is very articulate. Normally I can't sit through these videos/podcasts, but that was genuinely well presented. I hope his channel grows. He got a sub out of me.

Re: Official Scottie Barnes Thread 3
The highest paid Cs next year:
1. Rudy Gobert = $38.2 million / RPM rating for position: 3
2. Joel Embiid = $33.6 million / RPM rating for position: 2
3. Nikola Jokic = $33.1 million / RPM rating for position: 1
4. Deandre Ayton = $30.9 million / RPM rating for position: 21
Obviously the Ayton max contract creates a huge disconnect between salary and performance because RPM shows him to be less impactful than the best players, yet he will be paid like one.
My question is whether this is almost precedent setting for next contracts after rookie deals, in that Ayton is making money comparable to MVP players based on what he could be, rather than what he is currently?
What does it mean for a guy like Scottie Barnes who might not be providing max contract value at the end of his deal. Can we just assume we will have to shell out a max contract?

Yeah I assume anybody playing at a borderline all star level at the end of their rookie contract will basically be max contract. Hard to see Barnes not being worth a max contract but it appears this is the way the league is going

It’s kind of always been this way. Especially if you’re a top 5 pick and your team has been successful with you as a key piece.

I mention Scottie at the end. How comfortable are people paying Scottie a max contract at the end of his rookie deal because Ayton kind of sets a precedent. Ayton ain't worthy of a max in those cluster of Cs above.
Will Scottie be worth a max when you comp him to the Luka's or other superstar forwards. Should we expect to pay him that regardless of performance?

That all depends on Scottie and his growth. I don't have qualms paying him that much as long as he produces at a high level. Considering how good we've been at developing talent I'd say he'd get fair value.
