To me I’m starting to think how the jazz are kinda stupid .
They fall for the mass narrative how being a treadmill is so terrible you are better off in the lottery .

Now they will scorched earth rebuild and for their rebuild to be considered a success they will need to develop at least 2 players as good as Gobert and Mitchell and at least get to treadmill level .

That is not a guarantee and will take years of trying to get there when they were already there.

the theory they are working under is that they will never be able to lure anyone good to Utah in free agency so they might as well throw chance at the draft and get some home grown hope

The only alternative they had was trading for a star, but none are available. Knicks trading for Donovan and losing in the playoffs is the same place that the Jazz were already in. Jazz had a “finished” roster and realized they couldn’t win it all and properly assessed that they need to rebuild.

I changed my mind about RJ. I liked him as a prospect, but admitted I was wrong and changed my mind once I accepted the overwhelming statistical evidence that he sucks.

Randle had a bad year, a good year, and a horrible year. My assessment of his game reflects that. Still, I wanted him traded after the 2020-21 season, because he was not as impactful as his numbers and his perception suggested. I didn't think he was worthy of All-NBA. But still he played well, and as a fan I enjoyed that. Sue me.

See, I can admit I'm wrong. I do change my mind, that doesn't make me a "prisoner of the moment". Only fools never change their mind. You never admit you were wrong, despite time and time again seeing your takes turn into absolute sheet, since nothing you predict actually materializes, outside of a thing here and there. Instead, you just deflect blame, and vaguely bring up "context" as a way to explain why things didn't happen as you predicted, instead of being a grown-up and admitting you were wrong.

This has been my opinion since before the draft.

I see RJ making incremental improvements and steadily trending upwards year after year, while Ja slowly but surely trends downwards as time goes by, or just stalls.

I just think RJ is more substance than flash than Ja is, if we viewed it as a spectrum. Some of it is about physical attributes, some of it is about mental make-up. I just trust RJ's approach to the game more than I do Ja's.

RJ is quieter, very composed and very serious about the game. I'm not implying that Ja has a negative personality, or that he isn't committed to the game of basketball, but he's more of a loudmouth and we saw him at Murray State not even bothering on the defensive end because of the load he had to carry offensively, which was perhaps self-inflicted to some degree. I guess I just prefer RJ's character traits. The hopes regarding his potential as a draft prospect rested a lot on his intangibles, to be fair.

I also think with his defense and shooting percentages, it's hard to see how Ja can contribute if he's not your featured guy, whereas RJ can be more versatile in terms of roles.

It's highly unlikely RJ ever reaches Dame's level as a basketball player. I'm fully aware of that.

But there's something to be said for building with a homegrown player who plays hard, who values hard work and who's improving exponentially as a 20 year-old. RJ is a culture changer and he's been a major contributor in turning the Knicks franchise around (alongside Rose, Thibs and Randle). There's no doubt in my mind that RJ will not stop grinding until he becomes an All-Star.

RJ is a full decade younger than Dame. You trade for Dame and what do you get? A four year window of something that's not guaranteed at all? He has some decent teammates in Portland and outside of that 2018-19 season he hasn't exactly carried them very far. I love Lillard, but he's in the latter years of his prime, and he's not guaranteeing you anything. I'm not trading a future All-Star who's 10 years younger than him for this level of uncertainty.

Wiseman is completely different imo. He has sunk the Warriors whenever he was on the floor this year, and his skill set can be more easily replaced as a big man than a switchable wing who can defend, rebound, pass and score, although RJ still needs to improve his scoring efficiency. But his upside is significantly higher than Wiseman's in today's NBA, as is his floor, considering Wiseman is having trouble defending at the position that most requires defense.

If the Knicks trade RJ for a 30-year-old star, I bet they'll regret it for the next decade.

I’m pretty keen on seeing Hart play. Everything I’ve read about them indicates we maybe stole a high quality player. He certainly represents a lot of value compared to paying Gobert the max while perhaps offering similar abilities. I think we’lll actually have a pretty good team with or without the trade for DM

yup I think him and his agent made a genius play to come to NY knowing that he would play behind Mitch. Hartenstein is well set up to take a lot of minutes away from Mitch because of how much contrast there will be between the two. If he shows up to NY further improved on offense, he is going to be a steal and I honestly think he's going to eat Mitch's lunch.
