Simone Fontecchio is signing a 2 year contract with us. Thoughts?

My thoughts, Simone is 26 years old so Mitchell isn't getting traded because we want to go young and rebuild. If he gets traded it is because he has asked out or we got a massive return for him. I feel this is a good out of the box signing. Still waiting to see what is done with Conley and Bogie mainly

I don't know what to think. Not sure if he is better than Juancho.

Not sure how the CBA works, but could signing him be a precursor to a trade that includes Simone?

example... Knicks will let us have 6 picks and 2 young guys but now we need to send Donovan and Simone???

I think the Jazz are probably going to trade Bogdanovic and they need people they can put on the court.

I agree with the analysis in the video. It's a cheap pickup that could pay down the line, like the Jazz did with Royce who was undrafted, showed he can play, and ended up yielding a FRP. If Fontecchio can ball, we either got a nice rotation piece, or a trade asset. If he can't, he's only signed for two years so we can cut ties very quickly, and he probably isn't going to cost that much. Plus, it would help with the tank.

The real decision the Jazz FO is making is between Continuity, Cap Flexibility, and Cash Considerations.

Fontecchio is off to a good start in the World Cup Qualifier, averaging 21ppg on 10fga over two games. Looks like he had 6 tovs in the first game though.

Fontecchio had another excellent game yesterday: 21 points on 11 fga with 8 rebs, 3 orbs and 6 assists in a win over Georgia. Georgia, Ukraine and Netherlands haven't been very stiff competition though.

Fontecchio is off to a good start in Eurobasket too. He had 19 points on 10 fga with 5 ast in a 83-62 win over Estonia. Italy is playing Greece today.

Lauri Markannen is averaging 25 ppg on 13.5 fga with 8.5 rebs for Finland over two games.

Fontecchio had another good game in a close loss to Greece, scoring 26 points in 32 minutes. He struggled with his shot initially but was able to find his rhythm later on.

As someone who has watched his entire career since he was a teenage prospect who then seemed to have lost his way in his early 20s, I must say I'm really impressed with how poised and confident he's become. In these tournaments there are some NBA players who clearly look like they're on another level compared to most of their teammates and the opponents and so far this summer he's been playing like one of them.

He is very good, I wouldn't be surprised if he already has the quality of an NBA starter. Underrated signing.

Over the first 6 games of Eurobasket, Fonteccchio is averaging an efficient 19.2ppg on 13.3fga with 3.8rebs and 2.8ast in 26.9 minutes of play. The next game is quarterfinals against France on Wednesday.
