I am starting to come around to him after the 3rd game. Initially, he looks like a Morris type point guard with a lot of skills and they have him on a 2-way. Training camp is going to be interesting with him.

In 3 games he's scored 40pt, 18rebs, 14ast 5stl with only 4 turnovers, pretty great for a 3rd string PG. I'll miss Monte but I feel pretty comfortable with this kind of production even it this is SL games

Looks like Jack White gets the 2nd 2-way contract, expect him to get a bit of time in the G League

Makes sense. He's a perfect complimentary guy, so won't get in the way of the guys you want scoring, etc.

WE do have a 2 way deal that may be used, but we have a ton of forward depth so it would take a monster summer league performance to even have a hope. We do usually see a lot of guys change teams for 2 way deals after summer league, hopefully he catches on with someone.

Averaged just under 10 points per game in the NBL, so I don't think the Summer League style will really let him show out. Still, he works, so maybe transition and glass gets him noticed. He's more a good defender, strong small 4 type.

I'm a fan of Jack White...hard to watch him in person and not respect the effort and selflessness.
So...glad I was wrong!!

Glad your dream has come true, I expect he’ll get some time at Grand Rapids in our G League affiliation.

Absolutely. I think his first goal would just be to get in an NBA game at some point during the season.

Don't expect that anytime soon, we have a strong rotation already, Bro

I'm literally hoping there's some back to back in Feb where you rest a bunch of guys and he gets 10 minutes off the bench...lol
I'm pretty realistic about these things.

Good analysis of our new player from the Summer League performances, worth a read

Just curious, the Summer League is a good opportunity to see each teams new prospects, but how much credence is given of the overall performances ??

None whatsoever as to team performance. Some teams will send down players that have already made an NBA roster. Whereas some teams (such as the Nuggets this season) will send down rookies and few, if any, experienced players. Risk of injury is a factor. This year the Nuggets were evaluating their picks primarily but they had to be impressed with Gillespie and White who have a chance.

NBA talent will sometimes shine through and that is an important reason to have the games, to look at long shots, rookies and desirable young free agents.

What I saw from the Nuggets in Summer League is splashes of ability with typical rookie mistakes. Other teams were taking a longer look at some of their top prospects even if they were not rookies. Different rosters for different purposes leads to a construed outcome and little can be taken from any overall performances of a team.

On the other hand, individual player performance is given credence.
Canned in Denver.

With the Nuggets roster this year you really cannot tell much, especially not knowing what the coaches are telling the players to work on. It looked to me like Watson and Braun were both told to focus on defense, other teams have guys practicing different positions and roles during summer league. For the Nuggets this year we had a roster of guys who mostly have no chance to make our roster, which means they were focused on getting their own skills on display, and no idea what the coaches were asking of the rookies.

So how many of the SL roster guys end up in Grand Rapids ? Hoping Adonis Arms, Kellan Grady, and Jontay Porter can be picked up to play with the Gold this year.

Biggest problem I see is we really seemed like a feeding ground for other teams. The Gold signed several former NBA players that ended up on other teams eventually, where does this benefit our future development ??

Denver signed Gabe Brown from OKC summer League into Exhibit 10 contract, the only guy with Adonis Arms to be in the training camp and probably G Rapids Gold

He is a 6'7" Senior from Michigan State with 38% 3P and strong defender reputation who went undrafted.

I like this signing, although does feel like we're trying to stockpile 3&D wings of a similar ilk. Anyone know when the TC starts and when the Gold will start to stock their rosters ??

I don't understand what happened here. Apparently Brown has just signed a Exhibit 10 contract with the Raptors
https://www.si.com/nba/raptors/news/toronto-raptors-sign-gabe-brown-to-training-camp-deal

Denver's deal must have been cancelled for whatever reason. It is a pity, I think Brown has considerably higher upside than White or Grady

Return to Denver Nuggets
