People are going to regret passing on Kendall Brown. He will play 10+ years in the NBA (with health) and possibly be an All Star. He should have been a lottery pick. He is a guard with passing skills that will be on full display in the NBA while in college he was more of a forward/finisher.

problem with Brown is that 1) can't shoot/score and 2) way too passive...a dude with his physical pro should've at been able to get 15 points a night just on hustle and athleticism but had too many games where he scores 3 or 5 or 6. really no reason why he shouldn't have been much more productive in college.

i am/was one of his biggest fans early in the process but just the lack of aggro was a huge problem.

I’ll add another issue with him, as someone else who had him in my top 5 at some point during the season. He should’ve been a much better defender as well. I would kind of let the lack of offense slip a little if it meant he was going all out on the defensive end. But he wasn’t making an impact on that end. And again if you’re the size he is and have the quick twitch athleticism that he has. You should be able to make a considerable impact on the defensive end just from hustle and energy alone.

For those high on Hardy - heard on a pod today he shot 54% on open jump shots on 35 attempts. Jabari smith shot 65% for reference. They said mathurin shot 26% on 42 attempts

I like Hardy but those samples are all so small I don't care all that much

agreed. I only saw him play a couple of times but he seemed too willing to let the game come to him instead of forcing the issue and dominating like his talent suggests he could. Reminds me of Wiggins in that regard. Like, bro, you can lock guys down and you could be scoring 20 ppg. What are you doing? Maybe that will be drawn out of him at the next level and he can be a draft steal.

Kendall Brown may be the first of his kind. I recall seeing guys I was as high on like Zach Lavine and Klay Thompson mocked in the 2nd round during the season, but Brown actually was selected in the second round. I don't recall such a natural basketball player, superior athlete with length, youth, and a top high school pedigree being drafted in the second round. I can see that this draft is extremely deep, but Kendall will easily be a long time NBA player because his ball handling, passing, exceptional finishing, and athletic gifts will give him time to develop his scoring/shooting.

It's interesting that the NBA thought that Richard Jefferson was lottery worthy, and Kendall Brown a 2nd round pick. They both had to fit in at big time programs which depressed their numbers. Arenas is famous for being angered that Richard Jefferson was selected ahead of him. The NBA could see the talent in RJ and Lavine but not Kendall Brown. I think people will be proven wrong. He has too much natural ability to not be better than guys like Jamario Moon and K.J. McDaniels. His floor IMO is somewhere between them and Gerald Green, although his passing ability makes him more like Andre Iguodala. There is certainly a world of accomplishments separating Green and Iguodala.

I've never heard anyone mention Brown's age. He just turned 19 in May. How would DeMar DeRozan have looked at USC at age 18 rather than 19?

Gabe Brown who was a top 40 player for me went undrafted, but I think that he will eventually have an NBA career.

Paolo looks like him. Yea, Orlando made the right choice. Especially with Chet hurt and Jabari strugglin.
