I just don't see the Lakers being the third wheel in a blockbuster trade. I DEFINITELY do not see them adding a pick to get Randle and/or Fournier. They would be giving the Knicks a huge service taking Randle's and Fournier's contact.

It's sad how literal minded most fans are. They actually cannot see how Obi will optimize the talent around him while his talent will now be optimized with superior PG facilitation. He is our Shawn Marion. Letting him go would be so fcking stupid

Many of our players should benefit from Brunson (and DRose if he returns healthy), which is why this trade is premature.

We’re skipping a step before seeing what we have with Brunson, who cooked Mitchell just a few months ago. They will never be an ideal pairing either.

Yes, Brunson brings many of the exact same attributes as DM even to the point that they are fairly redundant. Brunson's trick bag is going to put him in the driver's seat and sometimes he'll be performing as a PG and sometimes like a combo guard, exactly like DM.

It is pretty evident many of the younger Knicks fans have never seen a fully functioning backcourt and they probably underestimate the value of a PG in terms of player development and talent evaluation. It is pretty obnoxious to always say our talent is the worst in the league when the PG last season was Burks.

This would imply that this FO might actually know what they are doing and I’m not ready to give them credit for it yet. Gotta wait to see it happen but yea Randle needs to go and no way would he fit with Mitchell and RJ I mean he doesn’t fit now but that Westbrook trade would be out of desperation and we would need to make it to start immediate progress. Of course just waive WB right after that he’s toxic as well

maybe we don't want to do a 3-way because Ainge thinks all those picks from the lakers shouold be going to him.

If we complete the Utah deal then we could leverage the lakers with Randle/Fournier and take RW off there hands for a couple picks to recoup some assets. And also clear the books so we only basically had Brunson/Mithcell/Robinson on the books with a pending RFA RJ. Could fit one more guy in there before the RJ extension hits.

It's expected that whatever prospects Utah gets will have the better NBA career than the ones the Knicks retain. It's just the nature of this business. Nobody is off the table and Utah gets to choose who they want.

We should know this from the Carmelo trade. Yeah, we got to keep Landry Fields and for good reason haha.

At this point you gotta take what you can get for WB. Try something different because clearly that expedient with WB ain’t going to work and Lebron only has so much time left

Trade for Westbrook, bring back MJ Burks, and complete the Dark Chanel backcourt.

Now that I think about it...Randle and Fournier for Westbrooks expiring contract and a 1FRP is VERY interesting. It gets us out of a lot of salary and opens up 40M for us next year. And gets us an additional pick. Then hopefully you KEEP Obi as your off ball PF.

HOWEVER you don't do this if you believe Randle at a sub 30 mill contract is great avlue and he would be an excellent complimentary piece in a modified role.

To me the greater value is keep OBi and open up the 40M slot and potentially get a stud next year who will come to join forces with Brunson, Mitchell, RJ and Obi.

This only makes sense if Westbrook and his huge expiring goes to Utah for them to buy him out or help with their tank, but adding Mitchell, Brunson and getting rid of Randle would complete arguably the greatest summer in Knicks history

They'll be future all stars or Ainge will flip them for #1 picks, and we'll be left wondering why we didn't do that.

It's just looking to me that this has the makings to be a huge trade. Lakers, Jazz and Knicks are all motivated

This sounds like BS, because it has the IF qualifier in front of the Mitchell trade.

I don't even know what Stein's rep is now? More of a "for clicks" guy or more even and normal reporting?

Nah Stein is pretty good with this stuff (more so Mav stuff) , but nonetheless he’s pretty tapped in.
