Bucher was on the herd and said Miami is looking to acquire draft capital to make a run at Durant. Maybe the Jazz told the heat Mitchell is going to Knicks and they shifted their focus to KD?

def a way to help the Jazz get another pick that doesn't have to come from us.

I don’t think they ever shifted focus, there focus has always been on KD, and Mitchell as a fall back..

You have 1 and a half examples. I have the Raptors, Warriors, Mavs, Lakers, Bucks, Heat, Celtics and Pistons. But keep acting like you don’t understand.

Because your logic is if the team didn’t tank themselves or the tanked player isn’t on the roster then tanking wasn’t used for them. Like you used the Lakers as an example even tho Brandon Ingram and Lonzo Ball were two players in a trade that was used to trade for a player that was also tanked for. The only one I’ll give you is the Bucks in recent memory but the point of tanking is putting yourself in a better position to draft a Giannis. Bucks just got extremely lucky.

The Raptors likely don’t win a chip if KD doesn’t have a freak injury. Point is that it’s common sense that tanking leads to having a higher percentage chance of acquiring a generational talent. (Not definite but much higher) and if you just want to trade for Mitchell bc you’re like mpharris and you’re sick of hoping the FO will think differently than sure. But generational talents are usually found right at the top of the draft.

Lots of ifs and buts. The Lakers didn’t take for Davis so that’s irrelevant the team that drafted him did. How did that work out for the Pelicans?

Too many ifs and buts with the Raptors.

The Lakers didn’t tank for Kobe, Shaq or Gasol either.

The Top 5 players in the league right now:

Giannis
Luka
Doncic
Curry
Durant

Thunder tanked and didn’t win **** with Durant.

The Warriors didn’t tank for Curry.

The Bucks didn’t tank for Giannis.

The Mavs traded up.

The Nuggets didn’t tank for Jokic.

Clearly tanking isn’t necessary, which is my point. And right now, more teams have found their superstars without tanking. That’s a fact.

The problem with shammgod's reasoning is that yes we don't have one of the 4 or 5 ATG's currently active right now but we're not in the all important position to get one of the next 4 or 5 ATG's. That's the point of being bad is to be in a positron to get the NEXT LeBron or Steph or Giannis. Right now the team is doing neither.

no you don't have to. You can also include Rose with Cam and Obi.

Not if it means more years of another bad contract (Randle).

Tell that to Lebron, he disagrees, if they land Kyrie and Randle by dumping Westbrook, you bet they will and could contend in the west

Randle and Kyrie??? Pretty sure it will be either or

What's Utah salary cap situation look like? Maybe you have Conley and Randle to the Lakers, Westbrook and a bunch of picks to Utah, and Spida to NY and whatever filler contracts are needed to make that happen.

Not if you include Rose

then the lakers deal

http://www.espn.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=2kcfsout

Yeah, the thing about this is, it makes us super thin because we'd have to trade everyone

Granted, they're mostly overpaid, but still. Best case, we could keep one of Quick, McBride, or Grimes (Obi and Reddish plus two of those 3 probably have to be in for salary purposes)

So

Brunson/Westbrook
Mitchell/Grimes
RJ/Hunt
2 guys off the street
Mich/Hartenstein/Sims

Also, nobody signs in free agency anymore, so the cap space we'd have would just be for role players cause we wouldn't have the assets for stars, and Westbrook isn't gonna be happy coming off the bench all year

I don't love it.
BaF Lakers:

Nikola Topic/Kasparas Jakucionis
VJ Edgecombe/Jrue Holiday
Shaedon Sharpe/Cedric Coward
Kyle Filipowski/Collin Murray-Boyles
Alex Sarr/Clint Capela

Bench: Malcolm Brogdon/Hansen Yang/Rocco Zikarsky/RJ Luis Jr.

IF we trade for Mitchell AND ship out Randle AND cut Russ (lot of ifs tho) this would be a A+++++ offseason.

i assumed they're not trading rj.

i guess it works if you're willing to trade everyone you possibly can except rj. randle, rose, forunier, cam, obi, grimes, quick. it doesn't seem smart. a 3 team trade changes things but i'm not gonna even think about that. the lakers are not sure about giving up a pick for kyrie yet. they aint doing it for julius and evan.

If we keep Obi then this becomes intriguing. Who could we possible get next year though with that 40M?

that's why i'd personally rather just let rj go and hold on to the roster. obi grimes and cam seems like a better situation for our potential new backcourt than rj and randle

Donovan Mitchell's strength is attacking the basket.. Brunson's strength is operating in the paint with a live dribble and floaters. Think about it and explain to me how they complement each other.

i would think the knicks would rather see if the 2 guards could repair some of randle's value first before they attempt to dump his salary
