Trade for Mitchell, keep Obi.
Trade Randle + Cam + Fournier for Russ
Buy out Russ.

Fournier would need to go to Utah for Mitchell. You can send Randle, Rose and Cam for Russ and that would work.

Good news! This could happen now

He’s probably being a troll but ironically he of all people is calling out others for seeking attention.

Good sign that RR says no Randle for Westbrook. Julius back in the purple and gold.

Please stop with this if it doesn’t win a ring you’d be better off tanking. Spurs are the only team on the 13 that tanked and got Duncan. So to sit there and say tanking is the right path, only path is false. You have to be able to walk before you can run, and for the Knicks they’ve been in a wheelchair the last 20 plus years

I hear that, but the path for the Knicks should be hardcore tanking for a few years 8-) because they've tried everything else and failed pretty badly, becoming the "LOL Knicks".

Since the shot clock era, the Knicks have been in the NBA finals 5 times.

3 times during the Frazier era (Knicks top 5 pick, MVP, 7-time all-star), 2 times during the Ewing era (Knicks #1 Overall, 9-Time all-star)

Fast forward to the post Ewing era....the "LOL Knicks" era. Zero finals appearances... yet, In the past 20+ years I think the Knicks have only taken a swing at a top 5 pick two times.... That landed us KP and RJ, two solid starters, one already making an all-star appearance. If we tried for the top 5 five or 6 times, what would we have?

Nice to dream, seems unlikely in reality.

Getting rid of Randle would be the biggest cause for celebration.

They’re guards. They’re supposed to be able to penetrate as well as shoot, which they both do. I get the questions regarding defense, but offensively?? That’s what people are complaining about?

https://www.statmuse.com/nba/ask/jalen-brunson-shot-chart-per-season

seems like spacing won't be an issue to me. both are solid 3pt shooters, donovan all around the arc, brunson elite from corners. brunson is the better midrange player, donovan can go to the basket strong. obi toppin a great fit for these guys considering how mobile their individual gravity is

I wouldn't be too stressed about them fitting together at least offensively. Brunson played fine off of Luka. His catch and shoot numbers were 41.6% and Donovan shot 35% off catch and shoot threes. Spida isn't elite at them but it's good enough for it to work. The real question is will RJ and randle shoot well enough to space the floor for them. I'm not too worried about RJ cuz he attempted more off the dribble threes that brought down his percentages but Randle's regress from 2020 was much more dramatic.

If we could get Spida, dump Randle, and open up space for Obi to soar... that would be something.

it really comes down to having a top 5 player if not top 3. other than Detroit, you could argue the only way to win in the NBA is with a top 5 player. top 10 doesn't cut it. it's a sport where having the top banana trumps any other combo of coaching, hustle, depth, etc.
