Re: Official Trade Thread - Part XLIV
Will Barton & Isaiah Todd for Collin Sexton (S&T) anyone? I think its worth taking a flier on a young guard with good shot creation skills that can get 20+ on decent efficiency and still very young. He's just not a true PG and is more in the Jordan Clarkson, Lou Will vain of a high quality gunner off the bench who will get you consistent buckets.
G M. Morris (24 mins), D. Wright (12)
G B. Beal (36), C. Sexton (24), J. Davis
F D. Avdija (28), C. Kispert (20)
F K. Kuzma (28), R. Hachimura (20), A. Gill
C K. Porzingis (28), D. Gafford (20), T. Gibson, V. Carey
G M. Morris (24 mins), D. Wright (12)

Unless Sexton has made it clear that he absolutely wants out OR the Cavaliers don't think he's recovered from his injury...
OR the Cavaliers think they have a shot at something AND Will Barton is the missing piece...
I don't see why they would do that trade. Nobody here wants Todd and most aren't that high on Barton, so it smacks of our trying to trade scraps for a viable player.

I'm underwhelmed by Sexton, but I still don't think you can get him for an expiring journeyman & a non-player w/ a couple of seasons guaranteed. If I were Cleveland, I'd let him walk instead of making that particular deal (not that they're going to let him walk...).
What if it were either Hachimura or Kuzma & Todd instead? Balances the roster better & gets us out of the quandary of what to do about Rui after this season (if it's Rui that goes).
But, really, it's hard to imagine any trade that will make a difference now that we've completely hamstrung ourselves & have literally no chance whatever of being even moderately good for the next half decade.

I would love to have Sexton but I think he's after too much money and I think we are too close to the har cap to make that make sense cuz we would be stuff unable to do much else

The 4 picks and two of their own isn't that bad but every piece of young tallent they have under team control is insane.FAH1223 wrote:

Agreed -- they'd have been nuts to take that deal.

Morris/Wright
Beal/Davis
Harris/Barton
Durant/Avdija/Gill
Gafford/Gibson/Carey

Surely, Durant will choose his destination. & given that team you outline ain't winning a title, I can't see him being interested.

Re: Official Trade Thread - Part XLIV
At this point, our franchise is such a mess for the next 5+ years that trading the farm for Durant wouldn’t bother me in the least. It’s not like we’re going to do anything with any of our first rounders while Shep is our GM and none of our young talent is worth much anyway.
Would we win a title? Nope, but we’d be something the Wizards haven’t been for a long time - relevant.

Re: Official Trade Thread - Part XLIV
There aren’t any teams that Durant would want to go to where, if you add him and subtract the talent necessary to make the deal happen, it’s a bonafide, without-question contender.
Here is as good as anywhere else. In fact, much better than most anywhere elses.
Also … Durant should know that his rep has taken a massive hit. He’s become incredibly sulky/unlikable and hard to root for. His current team was an embarrassment. Coming here would be a feel-great story and we have the pieces to pull it off.

Durant (34 yo) 42 million for Porzingas (26 yo) 31.6 million plus Avidja (21 yo) 4.7 million & Hachimura (24yo) 4.9 million & JDavis (21 y o)
No 1st round picks but young players trending upwards and realistically 3 guys that can start.

Actually, this is a very good point! & I agree it'll be hard to make a trade work well.

Re: Official Trade Thread - Part XLIV
Should we be chasing Randle? After taking a leap, he fell back to earth harder than Beal did last year. But he might be more attainable for that very reason than, say, KD.
Always remember, my friend: the world will change again. And you may have to come back through everywhere you've been.

I forgot the deals I proposed in the other trade thread but if it KP was involved it'd be something like KP, one of Rui/Deni and all the picks.
Or Kuzma/Barton trade package with all the youngsters (i.e. Rui, Deni) and picks.
Bickerstaff: who's up for kickball?!!
Ed Wood: Only if it's the no-pants variety.

How many years of NBA basketball do you think Durant has left in him? Out of that, how many years at a high level? At 34 yo, its safe to say that he is on the down side of his career, right? I dont think this is the "rabbit out of the hat" move that TS is looking to make, because it will not turn us into contenders, and will leave us with no acceptable role players, much less true starters.
I abhor Silver

I actually think the Nets could end up with the better deal .We all know Durant is top 3/4 best players in the NBA right now but he did get outplayed by Tatum in their playoffs.
The Wiz would have to be going for the title next year if they got Durant. Who would be the big 3 ,Durant ,Beal & who ?
