Dont forget that Harden already established that these stars don't care about demanding trades in back 2 back seasons. No one would be shocked if KD demanded a trade next off-season.
Minnesota could comfortably give up 5 picks for Gobert because they know he'll be professional no matter what. KD might check out the second things get rough.
Great point. Harden did basically something that I don't recall any player ever doing. If KD feels so emboldened to just bail on a team before his extension even kicks in, especially a team here who has gone well into the luxury tax and has by all means a very good cast on paper, what's to say he wouldn't want out on his next stop too?
The players are going to get locked out over this.
Whether Twitter world or any other social media platform wants to admit it or not, the Nets FO have finally been the first team to step up to its stars and remove player empowerment. Moving forward, this will be the standard. Kudos to Marks! Screw the haters
I'm not against "player empowerment". If guys want to go somewhere else, or team up with other stars, there's nothing wrong with it.
If Durant was one year out from free agency and told the team that he wants a change, fine. But before the even ink even dries on his 4 year contract?
Ben refusing to play for the Sixers while a trade was being searched out?
Kyrie refusing to do what he had to do to comply with state law and make himself available to the team?
Harden basically quitting on two teams in two straight seasons?
That isn't player empowerment. That's just guys just starting fires and leaving other people to put them out.
