Hornets forward and restricted free agent Miles Bridges has been charged with felony domestic abuse in Los Angeles County, the Associated Press’ Steve Reed tweets.

A press release from the LA County District Attorney’s Office stated that Bridges is facing multiple charges — one felony count of injuring a child’s parent and two felony counts of child abuse under circumstances or conditions likely to cause great bodily injury or death. The case also includes an allegation of causing great bodily injury on the domestic violence victim.

Arraignment is scheduled on Wednesday at LA County Superior Court.

“Domestic violence creates physical, mental and emotional trauma that has a lasting impact on survivors,” DA George Gascón said in a press release. “Children who witness family violence are especially vulnerable and the impact on them is immeasurable. Mr. Bridges will be held accountable for his actions and our Bureau of Victim Services will support the survivors through this difficult process.”

The alleged assault of the victim occurred on or about June 27 or June 28, according to the criminal complaint. The case remains under investigation by LA’s Police Department, the release adds.

Bridges was just days away from potentially signing a massive extension or offer sheet from a rival team before he was arrested.

Charlotte needs to rescind that QO and walk away.

I saw that it's apparently passed the deadline to rescind it, so he either has to pick it up, or Charlotte holds his rights.

So Hornets are going to pay him for the year?

If it's the case, they were gutless.

He can afford a great lawyer team so I don't see him suffering the same consequences as a normal person who did what he did. Still, I wouldn't mind him only putting on NBA jerseys he orders online from now on.
Tom Gores' Securus faced a class action lawsuit in 2024. The company engaged in a "quid pro quo kickback scheme" with county jails in Michigan which banned in-person visits in order to maximize revenue from voice and video calls.

If he takes his QO, but I guarantee the league would intervene

That was also 20 years ago, whereas now you can't breathe in a woman's general direction without it being sexual assault. Not excusing Bridges or Kidd from being POS, but it was 20 years ago.

Strike 3. Derailing the thread.

I hope he and his family get the help they all must need after all this. I wonder how he got like this. I think some serious consequences are needed to snap him back to reality. I would like to see him play again, but when hes actually ready as a man to do it again. I think a team should just sign him and suspend him for the year just so he keeps that connection to the nba and the support they can provide, even if he ends up going to prison. Ive seen so many players fall through the cracks, its heartbreaking.

That woman is extremely courageous for coming out when she did, a lot of people would have waited till he signed the deal, then extorted him for money. She took the moral high ground and I have nothing but respect for her.

I think he’s finished in the short term. Like I said in the original thread he needs to take the first deal that he’s offered, serve his time and start to rehabilitate his image asap(even while serving time) and start showing remorse non-stop and never get defensive when it gets brought up if he ever wants to play in the league again. And even if by some miracle he ends up serving no time, I would imagine that Silver has already BTS communicated to every owner DO NOT sign him and keep him out of the league for the at least the upcoming season. Letting him play next year would invite an onslaught of bad press on a league who swears they address things different then the other leagues

Super unlikely that Silver would tell all teams to not sign him because that would open the league up to litigation. All the NBA can do is ban/suspend him for a certain amount of time. Could be 40 games, could be a year, etc.

Most likely, unless what he did to the kids is bad, he's looking at 30 to 90 days in jail and possibly house arrest... and then probation and maybe a restraining order, court ordered counseling, etc.

It’s not looking good for this fool. That’s what you get for trying to be a fake rapper. It’s still innocent to proven guilty but it’s not looking good at all for him . And I won’t be surprised if he’s guilty of all charges.

I was just wondering should he sign it as quickly as possible. I doubt he'll play this year. I can't imagine anyone would give him more than that amount.

He plead guilty and admitted that he hit his wife.
No excuse for that, time isn’t something that makes this type of offense ok.

I think he should be suspended indefinitely

Lmao, bro, it's literally not hard at all to not get accused of assault.

I don't think the league needs to officially ban him. Any team that signs him (assuming he's found guilty in a court of law, but even perhaps not...I would prefer if be the former if he's guilty myself) will face a **** whirlwind of bad publicity.
