So I guess the Hornets are still “looking into the situation”, as is the NBA.

Wonder how long they will rope a dope this in hopes that it fades away? While I’m not surprised we didn’t pull the QO, I am disappointed they didn’t do that. This man, like all, deserves his day in court, but the longer it festers the worse it stinks for this team.

Comes a time you cut bait, move on and leave the chum in the water behind you.

my guess is this is headed to trial, many months from now... or a plea deal to lesser charges, down the road, before trial

at some point the Hornets might have to make a decision about what they want to do about this situation before the league and/or legal processes have played out.

They can't pull the QO at this point so I'm not sure there's anything they can do.

I am by no means an official on law, or precedent to how these have been handled in the past.

So if he pleads not guilty, I doubt the team will play him until the sentencing. So he probably misses all the games prior to the ruling and then whatever suspension NBA gives him based on verdict. (My guess, is 50 games).

My guess is Bridges, will neither accept or deny the QO while the case is open. So his rights are just in limbo until we know more information.

and thats fine, we should hold his rights until we know what the results of the court process/NBA suspensions are. Then trade those rights for whatever they will bring. Maybe that's not til next season and that's OK. At least we know going in that PJ will likely be starting at 4 and Hayward at 3 so we can plan accordingly.

I wish I knew more about these felony child-abuse charges. I'm curious as to why this is the first we hearing about it. I would have thought any injuries to the children that day would have been front and center in the reporting.

I am unsure, reading the article Woj released it sounds like they are saying it was child abuse because the acts were committed against the mother in front of the children. It does not say he specifically if he physically injured the children.

Then goes on to have a DA say "Children who witness family violence are especially vulnerable and the impact on them is immeasurable."

Yeah, I have that same confusion. Are they saying it is a felony because parents fighting physically in front of the children puts them in Harm's Way both physically and emotionally?

So
1. He's being charged with two felonies, one for each child for assaulting his wife in front of the children, which put them in potential danger.

2. As he was assaulting his wife, there was some unintentional harm physically done to the children. Maybe the children were trying to break up the fight and were knocked to the floor or pushed out of the way? It wouldn't be surprising to know that the kids were trying to beat on Miles as he was assaulting his wife.

3. Miles intentionally injured one or both of the children during the same incident.

If it's #1 I'm curious if this is a typical charge thrown during felony domestic abuse cases in front of children as a way to get additional charges. Kind of like reckless endangerment.
