Below is the list of teams in the luxury tax, and the amounts they are over.
Clippers: $41.7M
Warriors: $36.5M
Nets: $31.2M
Bucks: $23.6M
Celtics: $20.1M
Suns: $16.2M
Lakers: $16.1M
Mavericks: $14.6M
Nuggets: $10.5M
Blazers: $1.5M
Hawks: $1.2M
I wonder what team we could provide some financial aid to by taking a contract or two - to help alleviate the tax amount they’d have to pay. The more we help, the more picks we also get in the process. I have no issue giving up raw cap space if we get a future 1st or two.

Re: Luxury Tax Teams
Hawks and Blazers will almost certainly make small deals to get under the tax, because if you're under you get $12 to $15 million from the tax paying teams. That's a huge incentive for those owners to shed a small amount of salary.
I could see Denver wanting to get under as well if they aren't looking like a contender by mid season. I think its safe to say if they're near the top of the West, they could pay the tax this year and they want to prove to Jokic they're willing to spend to win.
Suns are a team that almost certainly has an owner who prefers to not pay the tax, we'll see if they move on from Ayton as soon as they can or if they'll actually be a tax paying team this year.
Warriors I think consider moving on from Wiseman this season if he doesn't look ready to contribute to winning basketball. He alone costs them $50+ million in salary + tax this year.
Mavs seem like Cuban is willing to spend this year. Celtics spend coming off a Finals appearance. Bucks need to spend to show Giannis they are committed to winning. Clippers owner is crazy rich doesn't care about losing money.

I dont know if we can get a 1st without taking on a massive contract. What did we get for Noel and Burks? A couple 2nd rounders?

It's possible that Burks had value around the league. Boston might have been willing to give up a 2nd to take him into their trade exception. It's possible that Weaver wanted Burks and got him in part for taking on Noel. The options might have been Noel + our first back...... or Noel + Burks + 2nd and Weaver took the package that included Burks. Noel and Kemba were obviously both contracts they had to give up assets to get rid of but I'm not so sure on Burks.

Burks is gonna be a good player and I think weaver will keep him past this season
Weaver wanted burks he was gonna sign a shooter this off season anyway I believe that’s why he only got seconds back in the deal I believe the Knicks really didn’t want to give him up

If Burks has a great season it will be an interesting decision.
I doubt we could get a 1st at the deadline for selling him.
When would his option for the next season have to be picked up?

Re: Luxury Tax Teams
Pistons just punted a 2nd round pick on a Euro that signed a 3 year deal. They probably dont need any more mid-late 2nd round picks for taking on junk.
Honestly Braxton Key was picked up for nothing, so Id rather churn those G-league guys for nothing.
I doubt anyone is giving up a 1st for the 10 million we have available to take on. Could be a swap where we give up someone like Burks and take on a bad contract that is Burks + 10 million in our space.
The team already has 12 guys that need playing time to either develop or showcase for a trade. I'm not sure adding more guys to the team is the right play now. Better to let it ride and see if so amazing opportunity pops up.
