Rob had to take a sizable injury discount. The Celtics took a chance on the deal, but it was only on the table because he struggles to stay on the floor.

Yeah, I think that Cave is Right. Grant gets about 4/60. Rob did his Contract a bit earlier, and he has injury concerns.

I say again: A key negotiating issue is whether Grant can be expected to get a better-than-MLE deal next offseason. How likely is it that somebody would clear and use cap room to make that happen?

We should definitely pursue an extension with Grant IMO. His skill set is just a rare combination:

1) Legitimate floor spacer
2) Quality defender vs bigs
3) Able to adequately switch onto the perimeter

It's just really, really, really hard to find all 3 things in 1 player. And if you settle for 1 or 2 of the 3, that's how you get guys who are played right off the court in the playoffs. And then the NBA system is rigged to where it's extremely difficult to replace guys that you don't retain because you have more flexibility to re-sign than to add from outside.

I'll add 3 more to that list

4) High character guy who is EXTREMELY well liked by the coaches and players on the team, just a great locker room presence, high basketball IQ, high work ethic
5) Young - only 23 so still getting better and developing. What you saw last season is not the finished product
6) One of the strongest players physically in the league, also very physically and mentally tough

Add it all up, and he's like a perfect role player. Gotta keep him in green. He knows his role, accepts his role but is always trying to get better and expand his game too

Sometimes the truth can set you free but this still keeps my spirit locked up. I'm still upset b/c I agree, but he doesn't have to keep rubbing salt in my heart!

I know people will always say the better team won, but I feel the more experienced team won, if that is better then it means we will never beat them b/c our experience will never meet theirs. I'm not even sure Draymond believes the better team won, but I can't listen to his pod until we beat them, I just see small things that make me think he doesn't!

On his extension, I see ~4y/60m happening by the end of camp. They might have to go up to 70m. Cap is just rising too fast. I have no problem tapping out on Grant at a certain point, but for the years in question, 4y/60m is essentially only a full MLE. Prepare for sticker shock on all contracts going forward.

It's a rivalry.

The Cs have been a major pain to the Warriors in the regular season for years. Now there was a Warriors-Celtics Final. Draymond Green clearly feels personal rivalry with other great defenders. Steph Curry may feel rivalry with other great scorers. Etc.

And while today's players may not know that much about league history, most of them know enough to know that the Cs are a worthy rival for any franchise. All the more so for the Warriors, because their dads include Mychal Thompson (80s Laker), Gary Payton (briefly a Celtic -- technically twice!), and Dell Curry.
