It's embarrassing that Grant is going around saying the warriors weren't the better team considering how that series went down.

Wow. Steph really did that, huh?
We need to beat them down, in the Finals.

Keep it on the Basketbal Floor.
Too bad that we have to wait a whole year.

I'm not even sure Draymond believes the better team won, but I can't listen to his pod until we beat them, I just see small things that make me think he doesn't!

Draymond is higher on the Celtics than a fair amount of this board tbh lol.

He and the rest of the warriors just knew we weren’t ready, and absolutely feasted on the mental aspect. As boring as the answer is, that’s the case with young teams throughout nba history.

Ws were not only the better team, they were the pettier team too.

Prettier? Nah. Curry looks like a kid, I'd say a cutie patootie tho! Dray, he's a rich multi-champ with a face his mother loves. Klay is mid. Wiggins? No comment. Looney? :o

The only really "off" look we have is a dude, I don't want to name, who has a head like Megamind.

You must be a true Bostonian - dropping Rs left and right, then making up for it by seeing them in places they legitimately are not. :D

Rob had to take a sizable injury discount. The Celtics took a chance on the deal, but it was only on the table because he struggles to stay on the floor.

Yeah, I think that Cave is Right. Grant gets about 4/60. Rob did his Contract a bit earlier, and he has injury concerns.

I say again: A key negotiating issue is whether Grant can be expected to get a better-than-MLE deal next offseason. How likely is it that somebody would clear and use cap room to make that happen?

Some factors in play:

* Due to a perpetually rising cap, there will be ample cap room among teams next season when Grant is an RFA, with not many quality free agents to spend it on.

* While restricted free agency can serve to deflate market value, teams generally understand that you have to overpay to steal someone's RFA. Slightly overpaying for an asset beats giving up a draft pick for them.

* Both sides need to mitigate their risk. He won't get much better or worse as a player. Grant's floor next year as an RFA is probably something like 4/45m, IMO. In the context of other teams overpaying for RFAs, he's more likely to get 4/70, maybe? With only a 4/50m offer this summer from Boston, he's not risking much by waiting a year. Risk is mostly on Boston's side there. If 4/60m offered this summer? More of the risk shifts to his side.

Verdict: Can quibble about the numbers, but there is a sweet spot in there were he takes a little discount on his anticipated market value next summer in order to eliminate the risk of that offer not actually materializing due to injury or him falling off as a player. Jaylen, Rob, Avery, and Rondo all did that, and all worked out in Boston's favor.

I think the sweet spot is 4/60m given the rising cap and years the contract would cover, but could go as high as 4/70. Not sure I go that high for a replaceable player.

Our starters played them even, and our bench **** the bed. Oh, and a Larry Bird-caliber superstar had the signature game of his entire career when his team needed it most.

I find the notion that we somehow got shook because of Dray kind of insulting. Not a chance. We grinded as always, but they were a slightly better, slightly deeper, and slightly healthier team with a slightly better superstar. Despite the regular season stats that didn't account for their injuries, they were better defensively as well. Simple as that.

In the end, talking about a banged up Celts team that had a losing record at midseason vs a Warriors team that didn't even crack the top 5 in the Curry Era. Were probably half a dozen other teams that could have been in their places with the same breaks.

I have no issue with that, especially after Grant ran his mouth.

Dray needs to pipe down, though.

Looking at roleplayer forwards in RFA and extension, Bagley got 3/38, Tate got 3/20, Caleb 3/20, Cody Martin got 4/30 (RFA) and Keldon Johnson got 4/80 (extension). Grant is far closer to Cody Martin than Keldon Johnson. There's better shot that his ceiling is 4/45 not his floor.

When you win, you get to talk ****. It’s pretty simple. Just need to win next time. Fwiw I have no issue that grant believes that they were more talented but no purpose to saying it out loud. Fails to reckon that being disciplined is part of being “better”.
