2023 Draft Prospect discussion

Post#1 » by Bruin » Wed Jul 20, 2022 5:00 pm

For draft nerds like myself (and some others on this board), it’s never really too early to start looking into prospects for next year’s draft

We own our 1st and 2nd round pick next year (assuming no trades happen). We could likely expect to pick somewhere in the 20s

Let’s use this thread to post highlights and discuss prospects throughout the season

(Let’s also refrain from making this thread a debate about tanking)

The 2023 has been viewed as a very strong draft and it’s likely about to get even better as GG Jackson, the #1 ranked HS recruit from the 2023 class, is expected to reclassify to 2022 and make himself eligible for next year’s draft.

There’s also the Canadian Leonard Miller who dropped out of the 2022 draft and decided to go the G League route. He’s intriguing but VERY raw. Gonna be interesting to see how he develops with the Ignite

Baba Miller is an interesting prospect that fits what we like. He’s a 6’10 forward who has played for the Real Madrid U18 team and recently committed to come play college basketball as FSU (same school as Scottie).

I also really like Cam Whitmore (incoming freshman at Villanova). I haven’t had the chance to see too much of him yet but he was very intriguing at the McDonalds All American game and he seems like an ideal wing in the NBA

Adem Bona (Nigerian/Turkish) Center has been looking absolutely dominant on both ends at the u20 European championships this summer. Extremely mobile and athletic big. Idk if he’d be available at our pick, but I think he’s a perfect fit for what we’re trying to do. I’ll be able to watch a lot of him this upcoming season since he’ll be a freshman at UCLA. Gonna keep an eye on him all year

That mobility and athleticism showed at 0:40 is absurd for a Center

Also wouldnt mind Tyger Campbell on a 2 way since he likely goes undrafted due to being small. Otherwise he’s a very reliable floor general with a much improved shot.

The Raptors are also one of his favorite teams so it would be cool to get him here :)

I looked at it earlier this month, and both Millers are interesting prospects who fit into our system.

Meanwhile, I feel the draft is not as strong as the last two, I could be wrong and depends any standout, I guess.

The top of this draft has several great prospects who project to become stars

It’s probably too early to properly gauge how deep the draft is though. Regardless, I feel Masai could get us a very good player in the 20s

There's a guy - his last name starts with a V - I like him. He's a Chet knock off but that's alright.

I liked what I saw out of Emmanuel Miller for Canada at the Global Jam.
He hustles and does a lot of the little things that don’t show up on the boxscore.

I am hoping we can get a Gradey Dick. He's perfect to what we what we want to do. He's 6"9' SG with range and athleticism. He's a great shooter and plays good D. Not sure about his length.

Anthony Black is also nice but probably too high for us to draft him.

He’s 5 inches taller than Chet. If both don’t bust it’ll be a fun rivalry/comparison for the next 10 years.

For how good Chet is as rim protector, VW is in another stratosphere entirely. He basically put up the worst scoring season for a bigman in Euroleague history, and he is still number 1 pick, He is so long its criminal. I am just very disappointed with his decition to leave ASVEL, that was weak move.
