Maybe it gets done today. I really don’t trust any of those sources though. Every day someone is saying the deal is done and will be announced. Everyone is just trying to break the news first.

Or, counterpoint, it's generally viewed as inevitable, so people are just jumping the gun without confirmation in order to have the clout of calling it first.

Yea, exactly. Think people are hearing chatter, which is probably somewhat true…there’s a lot of negotiations…but they are jumping the gun.

I saw something similar with my Jags this past offseason

At one point, it was looking inevitable that we were gonna hire Byron Leftwich as coach, so a bunch of guys jumped the gun on that one, then when Byron pulled his candidacy from the job to go back to Tampa, it caused a bit of a kerfuffle cause we'd been told it was a done deal for like a week at that point, all that was left was negotiating minor things.

Also, the sooner the deal gets done, the more it means we caved. I hope it drags out. Just because the Wolves are ridiculous (can Towns even play the four??) does not mean we need to make that the benchmark.

Yea, I am expecting this to drag out and maybe even the KD trade gets done first. I don’t see Ainge budging right now, so probably a bad sign if it gets done immediately. Say if KD goes to Miami, or anywhere…that may help us since I am sure it’ll take less picks then Ainge is currently asking for.

Just preparing for the long wait and when it gets done it gets done

Again, neither side has a reason to make the deal at this moment. Until one of them feels the urgency to get this done, it remains where we are right now. Ainge has time to wait for either another suitor to come up with a deal that rivals what the Knicks are offering, or he holds out that at some point Dolan's impatience will rear its ugly head. The Knicks currently know no one else has the offer they have. So, here we are.

Biggest issue for the Knicks is that the Jazz brass sees through R.J Barrett. A lot of teams would look at the age and counting stats and value him as a centerpiece but the Jazz must have seen him play.

Inevitable like KD and Zion to the Knicks

I agree these guys are nobody's hoping to hit relevancy and more than a 1000 followers by guessing within a few days that a trade will happen. A real genius would come out and say the trade isn't happening and every day nothing happens makes them a more verifiable source!

We could even name Thread #7 after their twitter handle.

More or less, yeah

I didn't grow up with sports, so when I decided to get into basketball, I'm from CT so I could've chosen Boston or New York, and I chose New York. Then football, I like teal and I have a soft spot for teams which were created the same year I was born, so I went Jags. Hockey, I grew up going to AHL games in Hartford for the Rangers' minor league team, so I would've been a Rangers fan, but I thought it'd be funny to be a Golden Knights fan, so there's that. And I'm a recent convert to the Rays, I used to be a Rockies fan because their minor league team plays in Hartford and I used to go to them a bunch as a kid when they were still in New Britain, but I'm not super loyal in baseball so I've jumped ship to the Rays cause my parents have a house down by Tampa.

To me that’s been the holdup how does Ainge value the Knicks young players compared to Leon and the rest of the league

You're overthinking it.

The Rudy haul let's you know what's holding up the deal: Ainge wants to rape. Knicks don't want to be raped.

Nothing more nothing less.

Ainge has the mid to late 70's frat boy background probably pretty comfortable and familiar with rape

imagine rooting for a team that just reupped harden to choke in the playoffs and piss off your franchise player forcing him to ask out in a year or two then having the audacity to come to another teams board to talk a lil sht about RJ Barrett.
