While might be true the same radio host broke the Gobert trade before everyone else, so their is some validity to what he said

Another theory: Knicks are pretty big into 'timing' these announcements. They may want to make it official at a certain date/time to get things in the background prepared and ready to go. Like press conferences/ Donovan having time to prepare a farewell letter to Utah etc. So the radio stations info may have very well been correct but they are holding off a bit on making the announcement. it got very suspiciously 'walked back' yesterday. The pessimistic theory would be they truly thought it was done but then someone changed their mind on either one minor detail or more than a minor detail (less likely in my opinion)

Also read that Austin Ainge was the leaked source but it all sounds fishy

It is owned by the owner and his info was quite specific referencing texts he was receiving (from apparently very solid sources within the org). As someone else said he released the Gobert trade before anyone else so he apparently has a direct link to the front office.

Was D Mitch's tweet yesterday just a coincidence? Educated guess, I think it is pretty much wrapped up just waiting on a couple behind the scenes items to be put in place (unrelated to the actual deal itself).

6 picks? Only 2 should be ours and I am not too concerned with protections because, we shouldn't be a lottery team and we won't draft anyone if we aren't. We need assets left after this trade. That's all I care about. Throwing the pick farm at Utah will be a bad idea. We need assets to make another big trade in a year or so.
