Would love Myles and Buddy.

Maybe get Lebron to commit to one year to justify that 2nd FRP.

If they can’t find a decent deal for WB before the season starts they should still tell him to stay home. I’m fine with the team waiting out till the deadline to try to find a deal, but WB still shouldn’t see minutes on the floor for this team.

It's going to cost us being a last place team for a decade to rid ourselves of this boat anchor.

Depends on what kind of return they can get for those 2 FRPs, whether it will propel the Lakers into at least a top 4 team this season and beyond.

If they got Kyrie and LBJ, AD and Kyrie all have all-NBA seasons, they would for sure be contenders for the title -- probably the role players would have to be good as well, can't be poor.

Or AD and LBJ both have all-NBA seasons and players like Hield and Turner are all-stars or near all-stars.

Can such a group contend for at least 3-4 seasons? Because even if they contend for 1 or 2 more seasons, it would still be tough for the franchise after Lebron retires because Lakers wouldn't have a FRP the rest of the decade?

If giving up those 2 FRPs guarantees 2 titles or more, probably got to do it.

But that's far from certain.

I'm not sure but I don't think the Raptors have signed Christian Koloko to a contract yet. I think Lakers need to examine what's going on there to see if there's an opportunity to sign him? He's signed with Klutch Sports... went just before Max Christie in the draft, at #33... and could be a nice pick up at Center.

If that trade is dead, then I'm glad cos I think we may have dodged a bullet. :D

A Mavs fan brought this up jokingly in a thread about the same Lakers-Pacers rumor... said he'd give Tim Hardaway Jr + Maxi Kleber for a similar package. I think I'd prefer that TBH, but still wouldn't give up two first round picks... maybe one protected pick.

PG: Lebron........... Reaves/Nunn
SG: THJ................. Lonnie/THT/Christie
SF: JTA................. Stanley/TBJ
PF: AD.................. Kleber/Gabriel
CE: Bryant............. Jones/??

In theory, yes. No chance Indy makes that trade.

Pelinka, take the deal! Not taking that offer is not okay.

It’s addition by subtraction! You’ll look good even if you spend both picks. Just by keeping RW away, it’s a net gain. Add Turner and Hield? No-brainer.

Watching KD lose in a Celtics uni+ finally being able to root for Jaylen Brown guilt free+ Lakers getting back into the mix for Kyrie.

I lowkey want the KD to Boston rumors to come fruition for my own selfish reasons.

LeBron not committing actually makes the picks more valuable..

Anyone remember how the Jrue Holiday trade went down?

Hield is at best a neutral value on that contract and Turner has been on the market so long that this is close to a final sale rebate with one year left in his deal. I’d argue that even a single FRP is an overpay if it’s unprotected. Indiana would struggle to find another team offering to clear their cap space. They’ll come around if we are patient.

Agreed, I'm not keen on giving up lottery picks for role players.

Since Westbrook is an expiring contract... trading him for players who can contribute in these next 2 seasons but expire after 2023-24 but without giving up 1st round picks... would be a fair tradeoff. There are quite a few players who could be FAs in the summer of 2024 if they don't extend before then. Things are always changing with contract situations so it's a big if... but here are some 2024 FA examples:

PG: Dejounte Murray
SG: Grayson Allen, Josh Hart, Malik Beasley, Donte DiVicenzo
Forwards: Jaylen Brown, Kenyon Martin, Kuzma
Bigs: Jalen Smith, Isaiah Hartenstein, Nick Claxton

If Lebron leaves and with Russ (or the traded players) off the books by then, Lakers could potentially rebuild the team with Jaylen Brown, Dejounte Murray and 2-4 of these other guys being added to AD, Reaves, Christie. The FO needs to start sending out feelers to gauge interest and let them know not to extend starting now though, haha.

I doubt they'd accept that after just trading for him. If you want Murray, it'll need things to not work out there with Trae... so he could sign as an FA in 2024 if he doesn't sign an extension.
