Miami gets him and then we can all get back to our regularly scheduled programming of overrating and underrating RJ/Mitch/IQ/Grimes and Obi.

I’m viewing this as we not bowing down. This is a good thing. Steve Mills would of already included Rebecca Harlow and Halal guys in the deal.

Because Ainge doesn't have scouts?

no but its part of negotiating...our young guys are really good trust us....oh thats why you played them under 15 mins.

Ok. It's another negotiating level to worth though then. In actuality, probably can be talked through in like 15 minutes.

Ainge: "I think they suck"
Knicks: "They don't; Thibs wants to play vets"
Ainge: "Give me another pick then"
Knicks: "No"
Ainge: "Yes"
Knicks: "ok"

Whatever :D

the issue with that is where you go from there...we still have a roster glut of decent but no inspiring young players and a bunch of future 1st round picks that won't be lottery talent.

Nice long list. Kind of ignores possible scenarios where teams on the bubble of having enough to offer make 3 ways trades to have enough stuff.

Like Miami.

I mean, you can just feel it. Miami will work something out with OKC to get enough picks, land DMitch.
It's inevitable.

How exactly is that going to happen?

F*ck if I know. Ask Riley. He seems to manage to do stuff like this every so often. :D

Probably. I'm not even saying Knicks are wrong for doing it. I'm just acknowledging the reality that it's possible there's no "here" here, in terms of a trade, because Aller won't budge off valuation and Ainge won't budge off being a total d*chebag.

Had the same issue last year and Knicks rolled with it, so who knows.

Benching Grimes and IQ, I guess.

im doing this type of deal regardless of the Mitchell trade. You need to give Obi 30 mins and see what he is if you aren't going to trade him for Mitchell.

You can't be like no we won't trade Obi for Mitchell but we are also comfortable with you playing a insignificant bench role behind Julius for the next 3 years.

In theory, that's a good idea.

What if this is the reality:

Randle is traded and now the Knick lack having him as an asset to move later. (Yes, trading Pouty McPoutface won't be easy, at all)
Then Obi gets to play and reveals he is, indeed, Turboboost Lance F*cking Thomas.
Now Obi has not that much value, and the Knicks starting PF kind of sucks.

What is the plan then?

Start Cam at PF?

Exactly. ThibStans say "the young guys can't beat out the vets ahead of them, so that's their own fault...they suck"

With Thibs, it's never about "beating out"....it's vet love, period.

Dummy doesn't realize that featuring young guys in major roles alongside vets speeds up their development and value. Look at Maxey, Poole, Heat and Raptors youth, and many other late picks.

Either way...Grimes, Cam, IQ, RJ, or Obi playing 35 mins per game, putting up numbers on a 25 win team have much more trade value than a Burks, Fournier, Rose, Noel, etc. on a 45 win team. NBA GM's don't care about a TS% and all that Jazz when they look at talented young players who can improve and develop.

find a better PF down the line. You can't invest in a lottery pick and then protect him forever...he can either play or he can't.

Scared money don't make money.

If you don't have confidence Obi can handle major minutes they should have no issues including him in to the Donovan trade then.

Looks like we are battling a number of teams. Some of those teams are historically stupid, including us. There’s going to be one of them overpaying. Hope Leon isn’t the one even though I’m a fan of Mitchell

Yea, then at least it sounds like the Lakers would part with 1 pick which can either be used later or rerouted to Utah.

Sounds like Melo and/or Paschal can be signed too, both who would be better fits along with Obi.
