Could the Knicks be in on Jaylen Brown?

Post#1 » by HarthorneWingo » Tue Jul 26, 2022 5:18 am

Brown definitely wants out of Boston. If nothing else, Brown's availability could provide us with some leverage over Ainge. For me, I'd prefer Brown over Mitchell. I agree with Marshall that he's a better fit for us. You never know. Things change.

Marshall does a good job of providing the sources for this information and all of the Knicks options that could be on the table.

I'd prefer Brown to Mitchell, but there is no scenario where he becomes a Knick, unless Boston is in love with Mitchell, and a 3 way trade happens with Utak, NYK and BOS

It would be a dream scenario indeed. The best choice around the league easily. Westbrook comes off the books next summer, so there’s our path.

These are the only two months of the year we get to fantasize. Besides, I've watched all of Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul to know that anything can go sideways. The Celtics handled this KD situation about as bad as it can be handled. How do you let Jaylen learn about this rumor by reading one of Shams' tweets? That's very disrespectful to one of your two homegrown All Stars who got you to the Finals. You all know that it's a players and agents league now and when a player wants out of situation, then he'll get his way. Plus, we can give the Celtics what they need.

Okay, we can let this thread fade into the sunset. But if I'm right, you're all gonna smell me later.

We could give the Celtics Randle, Reddish, Grimes and picks.

No, I would rather watch the Knicks go after Kevin Brown.

if the celtics were rebuilding it would be a possibility.. brown is only going to be traded in exchange for another impact player who helps them win right now

Who helps them win right now that they can package Brown for? I'm coming up empty on who can help the Celtics more than Brown.

I can't believe a team who made the Finals would try to trade their 2nd best guy instead of running it back and saying to the team 'turn the ball over less and you'll be champions.' To be fair, Brown had a ton of turnovers. But I'd rather ship Smart out for a real PG than ship Brown out for something thats lateral at best.

Maybe Sean Marks wants Randle + 6 picks instead of Brown + 3 picks... so we can give Celtics Randle + 4 picks for Brown... then they flip our package and add 2 of their own draft picks to Brooklyn for KD.

Knicks get: Brown
Celtics get: KD
Nets get: Randle + 4 NY FRPs + 2 Bos FRPs

never happening but a 3 team trade of this magnitude happening between division rivals would be bizarre af

I wish. I would much rather brown than Mitchell. If I’m the Knicks I’m definitely trying to make that happen.

Brown and Mitchell I guess hold similar value, both very good and both with some issues. Feels like Brown is a poor defender and also high turnovers, didn't check stats to confirm though. He is still an all star talent.

Given there is no legit rumor on this seems unlikely to happen and just randomly made up rumor

With the current leak in regards to the Celtics offering Brown for Durant I believe that a deal between the teams gets eventually done. Such a leak would be pretty bad if the Celtics weren't confident that they get it done. You do not want your second best player in trade rumors and then have him back disgruntled at the beginning of the season with him expiring in 2 years.

It makes sense for both teams as well. The Nets get a young and exciting athletic all-star player back along with additional assets while the Celtics will be heavily favored title contenders for the next 3 years.

The Nets have traded their own picks, thus they would want to stay competitive as tanking is no option. In that regard Brown >>>> Randle. Also all credible sources have reported that the Nets want a bonafide young star player back in any Durant trade. Brown fulfills that demand, Randle does not.
