but the next year or two is probably the most important to the rebuild (the building up after the tear down) and i have some concerns about weaver in this stage based on some of the moves he's made so far.

he's routinely acquired young players that were previous busts and there's one thing they all have in common - they have low bball IQ/awareness. dennis smith jr., jahlil okafor, josh jackson, frank jackson, hamidou diallo, marvin bagley and most recently kevin knox. low bball IQ/awareness players very rarely find success in the league and it's a big reason they bust in the first place. weaver continuingly making an effort to obtain players like that concerns me a bit. signing bagley to three years isn't just a low-risk flyer like you could justify when you're in total tear-down mode.

so yeah, for me it's a little too early to say in troy i trust and i think next off season's moves will be most telling.

Yea Bagley is the biggest question mark for me as far as fliers because of that contract. But IMO, you gotta pay someone lol.

My hope is he won’t spend on that type once we start contending. Which fits Bagley’s contract timeline of 2-3 years.

I’m really beginning to think he’s not going to go after the big time free agents at all even if we start contending. Maybe he just goes after the PJ Tucker and Crowder types and extends his guys.

For now the Josh Jacksons and Knoxs of the world are perfect tank commanders.

Obviously If he keeps signing these guys once we get good it’s a problem. But for a team building itself up, the moves really were fine other then Okafor. The Jackson’s problem was that they couldn’t build off their first year with the team. Smith had an ok tryout as the contract we acquired for rose, which also proved he wasn’t worth keeping.
