They should be up there even without Durant. Going to the finals and then adding Brogdan and Gallo for nothing is an amazing offseason.

Yeah this is a Captain Obvious moment, the team currently offering the best package is leading the odds, who would’ve thunk it lol

Why? Just because they added Brogdon? I don’t look at them as the clear favorite

Are you referring to the KD odds or Title odds?
Also, I thought the Celtics already had the best title odds after the Brogdon trade.

I think they are one of the only top teams that added to their team while not losing anything out of their rotation. On too of being a too team last year I think their is a solid rational for Celtics.

I can understand why they’d be picked as favorites, but I wouldn’t agree, because they never have been good at carrying momentum from one season to the next. They’ll have a great season and then follow it up with a disappointing season. That’s the reason why I’m hesitant to be so bullish on them that I’m calling them the favorites next year.

They're a young team still getting better and they added some needed depth w/o giving up anything valuable. Collectively they had zero Finals experience when they faced the Warriors. Now almost the entire team has Finals experience, so that's no longer a problem.
They also wore out down the stretch in large part due to having to make hay in the 2nd half of the season. They were behind the Hornets in the standings for the 1st half of the year, in large part due to injuries/COVID and also getting used to Udoka's system. Assuming they don't have those issues (at least to the same degree), they won't have to push that hard for the entire year and they'll be fresher in the playoffs.
And FWIW, nobody is picking the Celtics over the field. That rarely happens, anyways. They're just being given the best odds of any one team.

Re: Boston now has best odds from Vegas Insider
There is a lot of smoke around Boston-KD, and for good reason.
The Nets want to remain competitive and aren't settling for a bunch of picks, because they've already shipped out their own picks to Houston so they don't want to bottom out.
Who is offering a better player than Jaylen Brown, who just averaged 24, 7 & 4 in the FInals and is just 25 years old?

Vegas can suck it. Celtic killer Khris & KD stopper Giannis will stuff those odds if given the opportunity.

soon to be 34 y/o and likely on his way to being washed Gallo and they sent a FRP, a former #14 pick from the 2019 draft (Nesmith), and a third-string C (Theis) for oft-injured Brogdon who will come off the bench and took on his $23 million salary putting them in the luxury tax they've tried to avoid these past several years. Let's all relax a little.

Best title odds I guess?
They need another big. Otherwise, if healthy, they are loaded and have no clear holes.

- Nesmith is a scrub
- Your first rounder will be very late
- Theis will somehow find his way back to Boston for free after he's traded elsewhere and bought out lol.
- It aint your cash, celtic owners are paying the price for what they consider a championship contender.

He turns 26 y/o in October and has had a myriad of injuries in his career forcing him to miss a lot of time, including what many fear might be a degenerative knee condition. Also, he's on record stating he wants to test FA in two years so this could be a two-year rental. It all adds up to him not being quite the get people believe he is and obviously not enough without also including DPOY Smart in the deal.

1) Nesmith was never given a chance since he was blocked and he's a volume shooter not getting volume. It's too early to determine if he is a scrub. Plenty of guys developed late like Butler, Jerami Grant, Nash, Billups, Payton, etc. And there were rookies drafted in the first round in both of the last two drafts that are the same age or older than Nesmith is now at 22 y/o.
2) Late round picks in the last decade: Siakam, Brogdon, TimeLord, Simons, Robinson, Bane, Allen, Hart, Dejounte, Bogdon, Harris, Dinwiddie, Jokic, Middleton, and Gobert.
3) he's an asset IND can use in trades that the Celtics no longer have
4) getting a small market team into the luxury tax gets very uncomfortable for owners and they will only go so far. Celtics just let a TPE expire without using it which means the move to get that TPE was much less successful than apologists initially claimed.

You have literally have taken the worst case scenario in every situation. If you do that then you'll hate every move your team makes. Probably better for you to take the middle approach here.

Sportsbooks aren't changing the odds because of "inside info" or this or that. Money is being bet on Boston because some bettors see rumors that KD may go to Boston and decide it's worth the risk to bet on them. So their odds drop and they rise on the list. If a lot of money was suddenly bet on the 76ers, or any team, then their odds would drop and they would rise on the favorites list. Money bet controls the odds. I don't think some people understand how sports betting works.

Odds before the season starts are usualy not the same by the time the season is coming to an end. If Boston has the best odds to win at the end fo the season, then I'll be more excited.
