Viktor Bout was in year 12 of a 25 year sentence. So what if hes swapped. Why are americans paying tax dollars for a Russian prisoner anyways.

This swap should have been done a long time ago. Its not like this Viktor dude is some deranged serial killer on a life sentence. Dude was served with only 25 years.

If they are giving up high value criminals than we should be getting more than a basketball player that knowingly broke the laws. She should have to serve her time and we should be focused on people actually wrongfully jailed in Russia of we are giving them someone of such high value.

Desperation from both sides. Russia needs all the help it can get to help their defunct military, and US knows Russia could just let this woman rot in a jail cell her entire life.
