I’d say with a little more defensive potential. I’d be stoked if he ends up shooting the ball like Duncan Robinson.

Most of my trade proposals lately feature Cam Johnson from PHO...People thought he was drafted too high but he just hits shots all day and he's about to become the next overpaid 3pt specialist...A much better option would be Houstan just becoming OUR Cam Johnson.
I think our most glaring need is a long guy that can hit open shots...we don't really even have room for a "star" SG and, at this point, it would maybe be detrimental to our young guys with big-time potential to take a backseat...But, IMO, Houstan - if he can just bomb open shots, has a real shot to be impactful this year.

And in SL after having first game super hot, he shot something like 2-19 for 3 for rest of a SL.
NBA "shooter specialists" are borderline maniacs in ability to hit impossible shots from impossible angles. If you have time, find court side view of Duncan Robinson movment without ball to get open look. It's crazy how hard it is to get good looks in nba, if you are defended as shooter.

Because he is the newest member on the squad. We could have said the same for Franz. We’re not judging him based on summer league.

Houstan's job this year is to carry luggage and play on the practice squad.

Duncan may get hammered due to his contract, but when I watched him in the playoffs towards the end, he was active on both sides of the court always moving and aggressive. If he played like that all the time and still shot 40% from 3, he would be worth his contract.

I think it depends how much we want to win. It will be very telling. If we want to win we have Ross or even Kevon Harris.

I think if he shoots lights out from pre-season, he could sneak his way into the rotation. With no Fultz or Harris, we may lean into a better shooting lineup. He has the potential to be an elite shooter. Might as well try and see if he can replace what Harris brought us last season. Even if it's only for the first 10 games or so.
