Are the Knicks even better than the Pistons?

Post#1 » by aad » Fri Jul 29, 2022 4:44 pm

I’m just saying they haven’t improved much on paper and the pistons roster just looks better on paper

They lost some depth too

I think so.
Knicks still have Randle and Robinson as their bigs.
Adding Brunson to the front court improves their ability to score and maybe a little playmaking.

Pistons have rookies. Bright futures, sure, but they are far from established while NY has ready-made talent.

Treadmill team versus up and coming team that just drafted 3 lotto rotation guys? The Knicks should probably be better, they shouldn’t want to be though.

I would take Cade Cunningham, Jaden Ivey & Saddiq Bey with young beasts like Isaiah Stewart & Jalen Duren. Thanks!

They were last season as well, but is that really that impressive right now?

I like Brunson but I’d say he’s not someone to carry a team. The Knicks have built a team that just looks like their full goal is to just be competitive again. Not necessarily a threat to make the Eastern conference finals, just maybe a playoff series or two.

Pistons are still a couple seasons away, but that’s the point of what they’re doing. Shoot for real success, not just in the playoffs to be in there.

Adding Mitchell from Utah without emptying the assets would help them, but their backcourt would have trouble on defense.

I think the Knicks have improved, but if being better this year then Detroit is your big goal, that’s just sad.

They are better simply because the Pistons are just too young. Knicks have vets which are needed to win in the regular season
However, by next season, i think they will leapfrog the knicks if Cade/Ivey progress as expected

I like the pistons young core but yes as currently constructed they are. What made you pick the Knicks specifically? Outside of Burks those aren't meaningful losses at all and hartenstein is a clear upgrade over noel.

RJ Barrett is hella overrated. thats all.

Pistons will be better. Knicks ain't got no dawg in them. Once their dudes got paid they lost the will to battle. It'll be the same with lil Brunson.

Pistons might be a surprise team in the East this year.

No, but that is because the Pistons are about to become one of the top teams in the league.

NYK might win more games than DET but DET has an upcoming star on the roster and several nice pieces.
DET looks to have a much brighter future.

I don’t really like the NYK roster at all.
