Sixers to build $1.3b Arena in Center City for 2031

I think it’s about a lot more than basketball. Every owner wants their version of the Chase Center that generates revenue year round. The fact that the city hasn’t signed off on the idea is a major red flag tho lol.

Agreed. If this were to happen it would be about far more than 40-50 nights a year with basketball in the building. They have to be selling this as an entertainment and nightlife hub that will be active day and night all year round that will create thousands of solid jobs and revenue for the city. That's the only way something this extensive could get any traction with the city.

I still think driving is going to be pretty feasible. its 20k people, many multiples of that have been going into and out of center city at rush hour for decades, some take the train and many of them drive. This should be less than that given people will be leaving at like 10 pm and as it stands now there is little to no traffic in the city at that time of night.

The convention center regularly has large events in that same area and it doesn’t shut down the city or anything.

They’ll have to figure out the optimal way to add a little more parking in that immediate area and direct traffic but they have 9 years for that.

Also I think the city is fine with it, they just don’t want to pay for it? Which seems reasonable the Sixers will make back their investment many times over.

Assuming they actually do this of course.
