IT'S LIKELY: Bronny James is 18 and short (about 6'1/2" barefoot) so his size+skills won't make him a real nba player

It was the “I’ve been following him since he was 9” that disturbed me the most

Are we going to pretend to forget that Earl Boykins for example was able to get into the league and have a good career at 5'5? and Muggsy Bogues before him at 5'3? Yet you're on here saying Bronny can't possible make it because he's 6'3 bare foot. It's not about height, its about skills and ability to improve over time.
Let's just be real here. He more than likely WILL get in, and when he does get in it it will be up to him to do what he has to do to stay in the league. If he gets sent to the G-League he can still come back later on like some did before him.

Cant imagine how it is to grow up as the kid if an alltime great in sports. The pressure is enormous. I know schumacher had his kid race gokarts under his wifes maidenname to ease the attention, wasnt til he started f3 that he changed that. However good he will get he will never have a chance to surpass his fathers legacy. Valentino Rossi had an interview not long ago and said he was so happy he had a daughter so the kid wouldnt have to start and be expected to race from like 3 years old, but ofc if she wanted he would help. I really dont think people understands how much pressure is put on those kids.
If bronny makes it, good for him. But if I were him I would keep studying. Can try to get drafted while studying, and if it doesnt work out, fine. Being a sportstar is such a short period of your life, if u got the means, which james family got, look forward not back

How has this thread not been removed? There is nothing “official” about the height of a teenager in the longterm and then it’s just someone giving a hot take opinion.

Lol. He can easily be 6'5-6'6 barefoot by age 20. He's on a fine trajectory, his problem is he's not driven enough.

Austin and Doc Rivers both listed as 6'4"" for their NBA height (so probably in sneakers).
And yet Rivers kid has been able to stay in the league many years now.
Not sure Bronny is a lock to be in the league but I'd say his odds are high at sticking as at least a role player for a couple seasons. That's probably enough for the King to sate his dreams and peacefully hang up the laces in a few seasons.
LeBron may also forge a path for Bronny in some FO capacity after that.
He has a bit of pull, well make that an enormous bit of pull.

Pretty gross thread but I'll let that slide.
Bronny is not a good prospect in my opinion but will still get drafted late in the first round if Lebron sets out to sign with whatever team drafts him.

The people talking about height don't get it. Of course a 6'3" player can make the NBA. But only the ELITE 6'3" players do that. Bronny is not elite when it comes to the echelon we're talking about. He'd smoke anyone on RealGM tho, let's make that very clear. But he needs to become a very special kind of player at that size to truly make it in the NBA. He's a very good 6'3 player, extremely good tbh. But he's not elite.
You can be extremely good for a 6'6" dude and make it to the league. But you need to be just a notch better when you're smaller. Kid's only in his Junior year though right? He's got time lol

LeBron's NBA Cup MVP is more valuable than either of KD's Finals MVPs. This is the word of the Lord

Pelly24 wrote:I watched Bronny pretty much his whole high school career. The height is only a problem because of his level of skill and his type of athleticism. He's 6'2" barefoot but is essentially a wing who is unable to handle the ball. He's got no flexibility in his moves, his first step/overall agility with the ball is pretty much nonexistent so he was never able to be a consistently dominant player. Even after his great run in Peach Jam, he followed it up with a few pedestrian games in vegas, got dominated by another AAU team. He lost the ball and had people rip him so much over his career it was crazy, I think it has something to do with his posture or his build. The ball is too high when he dribbles. If you can't consistently beat guys off the dribble at 6'2,"" it's very hard to be great, but he was still a very good player. If he had the handle and mobility of even a mid major guard, he'd be infinitely better than he is now and easily make the NBA. He does all the little things, but his actual talent with the ball, when he's not passing, is kind of limited.
He's a solid shooter, but very streaky. He needs to spend every minute working on agility and handle and jumper because he's undersized. But lebron will get him a shot in the league.
Thank you. This is what people don't get talking about his height. He has the game of an NBA wing in the body of an NBA guard. He needs to either get an NBA wing's body or an NBA guard's game. Dunno if it's even possible for him to develop the latter at this stage in his career, so he really needs to grow into a body that suits his game. Even at 6'6" he can make it as a high level contributor like a worse version of Lonzo or something. At 6'3" he's not likely to make it as much more than a gimmick unfortunately.

There is a guy called Steph Curry (EDIT see you meant sons of legends. A high bar to surpass them as has been said by others).

Steph Curry.
Klay Thompson also. 2 guys on the same team
Edit: Oh, we're only talking about "all time legend players"? Well yeah, of course. The odds of anyone being better than an all time legend is by default almost impossible.
The odds of their child being better than them is even smaller.
It's not because the offspring are unmotivated so much as it is because the statistical chance of anyone being a top 50 all time NBA player are astronomically small.
Steph and Klay's fathers were still wealthy by almost any standard though. Steph is also 6'2'' odd and was considered to lack athleticism.

Bogues played in the days before analytics ruined everything. He'd never get a shot now.

The question i've always had is why didnt he model his game after that of a traditional point guard. His size wouldn't be an issue at all. In fact, he would be a big PG at 6'3. His dad is Lebron and his godfather is CP3. You would have thought they would put more emphasis on his developing his handle and playmaking. As of now, he's looking like a 3 & D prospect which is much less viable at his size.

Some people just don’t have the talent to really develop into that type of guard. I think he has a chance to be an NBA guard tho bc he seems like a good defender and competent passer. Maybe similar to Chris Duhan (hopefully getting up to around 40% from 3) or Maybe Derek Fisher
