There are people that are at an age where this happens, but somehow it always feels too soon. NGL I really thought he'd be laughing and imparting wisdom forever. True legend! He's so amazing, but it's sad that I didn't know anything about him until becoming a Cs fan, everyone regardless of allegiance should know about this King! Gone but never forgotten, the HERO, Bill Russell!

RIP, Legend.

Probably the most important player in NBA history, on and off the court.

I'm in the minority that still sees him as the GOAT player.

Thankfully, it seems his mind stayed sharp to the end, even as his body was giving out. Much the same can be said of Tommy and, at least until now, Cooz. That's a mercy.

RIP to a legend.

R.I.P., sir.

YES. He was Truly a Great. Transcending Basketball.
Despite his age. Gone too soon.

I would say that you're in the Majority.
Bill Russell, GOAT (Greatest of ALL Time), by far.

I'm not in the majority on the GM or Player Comparison subforums.

Just saw this on JT's twitter. I can hardly believe it.

Bill Russell will live forever in the hearts of all Celtics fans, sports fans, and all who fight for human rights and believe in human dignity.

Absolute legend on and off the court.

Sad, but at least he got to live a very long and successful life. Greatest winner of all time. Died a legend, and legends live forever.

I just entered here today to show my respect for the best winner ever, the guy who won it all, in College, in Olympics, in NBA as a player, and as a coach... and the guy who emerged as the cornerstone to change the franchise history.
Will be missed.
