The reason that Cade didn't get to the FT line last season was because he avoided contact all season. Lots of scooping layups around defenders, floaters before contact, and short pull up jumpers. He didn't aggressively take the ball into the defender last season.

This season he with the reported extra weight, as well as the added knowledge of the game I'm sure he'll get better and smarter at using the whistle to his benefit and getting to the line more which will up his overall TS%.

I'll be shocked if Duren is a starter out of the gate.

Yep. Duren is more likely to start in the G League than start for the Pistons to start next season. I think we see Stewart/Noel and Olynyk/Bagley to start.

I think Weaver will try to boost Noel's value then use him as a trade piece closer to the deadline then I think some opportunity will open up for Duren but as of right now, there's just not much room for him to get a lot of playing time and he might not be ready anyway.

Also, I expect Ivey to start off the bench. We got a tiny glimpse of what an Ivey/Killian backcourt might look like and we'll probably see that combo a lot at least to start.

Cade drove but he doesnt yet him the skill of driving right into the defenders chest and then leaning back to create space to get the AND 1.

Cade also was on fire from right inside the free throw line or that area. He made so many shots driving, or looking like it, then stopping at the free throw line to sink a quick jumper. He was probably above 50% from there, maybe 66%. It was incredible.

This website shows his shot chart from just inside the free throw line to be (not incredible, but pretty good), so it wasnt my imagination.

100% correct, he is going to be a very good drive and short pull-up player.

If you compare the way Cade drove to the basket last year to the way Jerami Grant drove to the basket its a huge difference in the way they do it. Grant looks for contact on drives and Cade tried to be crafty and avoid that contact... get to open spaces to get up clean looks.
