Attendance is down almost 7,000 compared to 2019 and is the lowest since 2016 when the team went 73-89 with a $55 million payroll. That 16% drop is triple the MLB average drop
I'm against picketing but I don't know how to show it.

Rumors the Crew are interested in Benintendi and Josh Bell.

*IF* they were to acquire both I’m not sure how the lineup works as either Tellez or Bell is DHing, so who doesn’t play the OF?

So I saw discussion on Yelich on the other thread, but what the hell happened to him? I know some back issues and the cracked knee cap but man, I just don't remember some of these awful types of at bats, is he just zero confidence? Was the back issue so massive it permanently ruined him? I just don't get how he could fall off so quickly unless he was using something and stopped.

We better not be dealing any of our top prospects. Yeah I know “top prospects” can often bust (Matt LaPorta, Brinson) but the more you have the better chance you get some MLB talent.

Scratch one off the list, Benintendi to the Yankees.

The Brewers have talked with the A's about Ramon Laureano.

I think it’s just because the team hasn’t done anything significant to improve the offense in the last few years (no offensive prospects coming from the farm system doesn’t help either). Also, the Bally Sports contract has really killed a lot of people’s interest in the team. I used to watch most of the Brewers games but I don’t have cable or DirecTV so I barely catch any of the games live anymore.

This is absolutely a major factor, when you have probably 20% or less of Wisconsin homes that are watching the games. That means less kids watching, less parents willing to pony up the money to go, less enthusiasm. And as someone that just went to a day game with 4 kids, dropping at least 75 bucks on popcorn, dip and dots and nachos was a kick in the nuts.

I think lack of local TV access to the games is a much bigger long term problem than both the MLB and NBA seem to realize. The cord cutters being excluded from these regional networks is going to erode fan bases.

Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside in a cloud of smoke, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming Wow! What a Ride!-H.S.T.

Yep, so focused on shortening the game 30 minutes and overlooking alienating their entire fan base with these tv deals.

Ken:

The Brewers are again listening to overtures for closer Josh Hader. The conversations might be little more than due diligence. But as the Brewers head toward their fifth straight postseason appearance, their motivation to trade Hader might be increasing.

Three reasons:

• Hader’s $11 million salary likely will increase to the $16 million range next season in his final year of arbitration before becoming a free agent.

His preference to limit his appearances to one inning restricts his value to the club, and would be of particular concern in the postseason.

• Devin Williams, who has produced 30 straight scoreless appearances, striking out 47 in 28 2/3 innings, could replace Hader as the Brewers’ closer.

Hader, 28, has allowed just one run in his last four appearances, recovering from a difficult six-game stretch that increased his ERA from 1.05 to 4.50. Trading him only would make sense if the Brewers could acquire a hitter they desire, or young players who could help them address various needs.

That's interesting.

Timing seems to be lining up for Hader to be moved

I don't really understand why the Brewers would move Hader. The team is known for listening to all offers.

They're in the mix. Mark wouldn't do it.

The issue with trading Hader, and I’m okay if they do, is he’d be going to a team that is in contention, therefore that team isn’t giving up win now players only top prospects. Not sure that makes sense for the Brewers at this stage.
