it's largely because criminal proceedings are notoriously difficult for victims of sexual violence, regardless of whether the accused is wealthy. there was no reason for any of these women to subject themselves to being publicly shamed like this by pursuing a grand jury decision - if they were just looking for a payout then they would all have produced civil suits.
and should the victims not seek a settlement when that's the best option available to them? if they are, in fact, victims, should they just accept that the system does not work for them and pay for therapy from the wages of the job they possibly can no longer perform?
